We have just stayed for 2 nights here and really enjoyed it. The food, particularily the breakfast, is delicious and evening meals reasonably priced.
They are at present undergoing massive landscaping work and when it is finished should be stunning.. The room was comfortable and lovely view over the gardens.
We will certainly be staying again

Massive undergoing exterior refurbishment and interior tristesse, coupled with sad kitchen and a pool that definitely has seen better days made this a questionable stay at best. The pictures on the homepage were beautiful, and added to the disappointment. Let's hope they use their mony wisely.

We visited the BVH over the weekend, just went for a bite to eat.
Food was great and very reasonable. They've re-tarmaced the road in, cleared all those deep potholes and widened it so two cars can pass each other by without one having to get up on the grass.

We also saw scaffolding around the Hotel, looks like they're getting rid of that dreadful 'maroon' colour and hopefully the overgrown Ivy.

If they plan it well there's no doubt it'll be one of, if not the best Hotel in the North East. So far so good.

This hotel could do with a bit of an update but my partner and I found it fine for a two night stay. The drive into the hotel between the trees is quite stunning and the grounds are beautiful. We had a lovely view from our bedroom window over a lovely grassed area and could see the "glass house" where meals were served. We had tea at the hotel and had no trouble with service and the food was good. The hotel does need some work but I found the feel of the place to have a bit of the charm of yesteryear. Hope it doesn't lose that when work is completed.

On the 25th of may we booked into the Boyne Valley hotel at 2.30pm to be told we needed to wait as the room was not ready yet the following morning the room was accessed for cleaning at 11am!!
There were few residents in the hotel yet the room allocated overlooked bins and a skip.
The following morning going down to breakfast my grandson took his buzzlightyear toy to the dining room and unfortunately it was left behind when we came home to Newry we called the hotel and inquired if it was handed in and we were told no, this is not a small toy so would not fit into a hand bag there were few people in the dining room reception could offer no solution i find this unacceptable

Room Tip: tired old hotel needs refurbished and updated

Dear Ailish,

Many thanks for sharing your review with us.
As you may not be aware, the hotel is undergoing a series of renovations during 2014. As this is a lengthy process it may take some time for completion and we have building materials on the grounds of the hotel to complete these works.
We do state that checking in time is from 2pm and we strive to have all rooms cleaned for guests to check in. We also state that checking out time is 12 noon, so you have plenty of time to make full use of our gym and pool facilities and eat breakfast at your leisure.
Unfortunately we do not take responsibility for belongings left in public areas. We make every effort to assist in retrieving items left behind but were unsuccessful on this occasion. We do hope that you will visit the Boyne Valley Hotel in the near future for another relaxing stay,

Kind regards,

Management team

We booked a family room, it was terrible, no valance sheets or top sheets on beds, carpet was just a disgrace! There were two iron burn marks and a piece that was cut out and replaced! The kettle was very badly corroded that I refused to boil water in it to make my child a bottle! The shower water was cold and had no pressure!
We ordered food in the bar and waited an hour and 10 mins to be served ( hotel was not busy) and food was very average and over priced! We asked for a sweet menu and after waiting another 20mins for this order to be taken we retreated back to our horrible room!
Breakfast was surprisingly good but staff took forever and were very grumpy!
We then went to use the swimming pool only to be stopped at the door by a member of staff because there was dog poo all over the entrance!! This hotel needs totally updated and done of the staff could do with learning some people skills! The receptionist was lovely and personally I think she is wasted working in this hotel! I will never stay Here again and I will not recommend it either! If it wasn't for the tayto park ticket (one night package deal) our trip would have been totally ruined,
