“Saints and relics”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

Well worth a stop, this contains relics including bones and the preserved head of St Oliver, as well as a relic of the true cross and a chair to commemorate the visit of pope John Paul II.

“Beautiful Church”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

Worth a visit to see Oliver Plunkett's head and to learn the story of his struggle and of his unfortunate demise.

“Amazing church”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

The architecture of this place was fascinating, necks cranked up to take in the windows, vaulting and the massive organ, quite gothic and splendid. The head was odd, never seen a preserved head but so glad I went in to visit. The priest was showing a tour round the place, and talked to us about the door that was oliver plunketts prison door or something and other bits and pieces which was nice and engaging. Before leaving I lit a candle, and burnt my finger a bit, and nearly burnt the church down, its not easy placing the candle into the holder!! But definitely visit if in Drogheda.

“Visually impressive and acoustic alchemy, to borrow a name.”
Reviewed October 18, 2013

Churches in Europe fascinate me, I wonder how such amazing structures could be built without " modern technology"
ThIs is one of those places. The organist was practising/entertaining while I was there. Great sound and fantastic acoustics.

“Head & Cross”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The head of St Oliver Plunkett (circa 1650 or so) is here under glass. Really, it is - his head, that is. Big shrine for him up front on the left side of the church. A relic of the ONE TRUE CROSS is directly opposite from St Oliver. Plus you can light candles for 20p and save a soul. Plus the church is magnificent! Park anywhere you can find a "pay and park" spot in the city and walk - can't be more than 5 blocks. The city is great walking and the church is great visiting. Laurence's Gate (circa 1220AD or close to that) is just a few blocks away. Fun town to spend a bit of time in.
