“Staff need to smile more!”
Reviewed August 31, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at the dhotel so visited the bar on both evenings of our stay, and on both occasions I felt that the staff were not very happy in their jobs as hardly any of them smiled. I saw what appeared to be a manageress giving off to another member of staff about a waitress in front of the public which was not very professional. The bar itself is lovely and there was a good selection of drinks including local breweries and it appeared to be busy. We had room service and it appeared to be from the bars menu and it was lovely, so the food was good too. The only thing that let the bar down was the look of unhappy staff, boost staff morale and this will be a 5 star gastro pub.

“Fantastic food”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

This was our first dinner in Ireland, and we loved the atmosphere, rustic decor (it used to be Cairns Brewery), and location (next to the hotel). The staff was friendly and helpful, although not as in-your-face attentive as we are used to in the U.S., probably because they don't depend on big tips. We shared the Crispy Bacon, Clonakilty Black Pudding, Cashel Blue Cheese & Poached Egg Salad (our first taste of black pudding), and the Beef & Guinness Pie; both were delicious. Dessert was an amazing Chocolate Fondant with Honeycomb Ice Cream (in the U.S. we call it Lava Cake). Five stars!

“Decent fare for a slightly inflated price”
Reviewed August 27, 2014 via mobile

Stopped in here for a casual bite during a day trip to Drogheda - the atmosphere was instantly enticing, with vibrant decor and a hip, open plan decor. The place seems to take in a sizeable lunchtime crowd and was busy when we arrived - however we were seated straightaway and left for a generous period to peruse the menu. The "gastropub"offers a substantial array of bar food as well as lunch/evening a la carte choices, with seafood dishes proving particularly popular with our fellow diners. Seeking a light but sustaining bite, I opted for the open chicken salad sandwich, while my friend chose the ham and cheese on boule bread with fries. The food arrived relatively quickly, but not at a compromise to its quality - tasty, fresh, clean food and generously portioned. My single gripe with my meal concerned the price - 5.95 seemed a tad steep for what was essentially a selection of salads served with a single (thin) slice of brown bread. My friend's plate, while more expensive, seemed far more substantial, with two slices of bread, thick wedges of cheese and ham and a healthy portion of fries.
Overall, our visit was pleasant, and I imagine that with its impressive cocktail offerings and large sports screens, the place attracts a strong evening crowd - however, the dishes could be a tad more keenly priced.

“Overall not bad”
Reviewed August 24, 2014 via mobile

Started with a poor table location beside the entrance despite having booked a day earlier and being promised a good table. Service was good, nice friendly staff and a nice buzz in the place and food was adequate. Starter very good Wings and Ribs all round. Rib eye was good ( not anything super but good) , colcannon a little tasteless and home cut fries very good. Noodle stir fry was average and not a reason for going there. Overall acceptable but would take it off the bucket list of restaurants to visit again.
