“Great find!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2009

Pros: Lovely, modern spacious triple room, very clean, superbly friendly staff, cheap drinks @ lift. Cons: Internet in room never did work, the room tended on the dark side, entire bathroom done in glass.

We arrived on New Year's eve and their internet was out. Kind of a bummer because they had a nifty in-room TV/Internet system and I had things I wanted to do on-line. I went downstairs to discuss with the staff and was allowed access to their private offices to use their computer which was very nice. The manager was extremely informative and very helpful. I was very impressed with the size of the room, however I wouldn't recommend staying here with anyone except a significant other. The entirely glass bathroom afforded little privacy and illuminated the entire room. Hard to sneak in there at night unless you wanted to go in the dark. I'd also suggest that the hotel add some more room lights. It was quite dim in there. Otherwise, we were very comfortable and loved the cocktails, etc at the lift machine. Reasonably priced and very convenient.

Myself and my husband stayed in the hotel on the 2nd and 3rd of January 2009. Check-in was a bit of a disaster the boy on reception did not have great english and we requested a room overlooking the river which he said we had got. On entering the room we were overlooking the road!!.. We eat in the bar the first night and I have to say the food was lovely but there just isn't enough seating in the bar.

On the Saturday evening we went to the rugby match and after the game I rang the hotel to see what time the bar food was over at, again the boy on reception could not understand the question and then got very uptight when he eventually realised the question. After getting food we returned to the hotel as we had a long drive the next day home, well we would have been as well going clubbing for all the sleep we got. The walls in the rooms are very thin so our neighbour came back at 3.15, then and 6.20 the banging started at the door it was the neighbours other half and lets just say she didn't hold back on the row it was terrible I felt like I was in the room with them. The next thing the fire alarm went off in the hotel were it instructed us every ten minutes or so " ATTENTION ATTENTION THIS IS A FIRE ALERT PLEASE STAY IN YOUR ROOMS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" this went on for an hr and then there was nothing. In between all this there was more banging at a door outside our room at this stage my husband and I were nearly at breaking point he went out to see what was going on and there was a man outside the emergency room door banging to get in. Seening we were on the 3rd floor we thought this was quite strange but at this stage we didn't care and just let him into the hote.

When we went down the next morning to check-out they had a sign up on the counter saying sorry for the inconvenience of the fire alarm. The person checking us out didn't even apolygise in person until my husband mentioned it.

What a disaster never ever ever again cause lets face its not all that cheap and the prices were hiked up for the rugby from 79 euro to 149 euro for that night.

Couldn't fault any aspect of this hotel over a three night stay. Staff and accomodation were superb as was the restaurant. .Great value for money. Recommend to anyone visiting Limerick.

We found the hotel a bit awkward to find as we didnt have a clue which direction to go after we got dropped off by the bus from the airport. We asked a local shop owner for some directions and he told us to head in the direct of the quay.
As we made our way down to the hotel, we spotted a couple of pubs, a nightclub and restaurants on our way.
As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were given a nice, polite and friendly welcome. Check in was really quick adn efficent and then we got the lift to our room. The room we were allocated was very nice, clean and modern. The wall mounted TV was a bonus as we could watch TV while in bed. All the modern cons, power shower, LCD TV and expresso machine.
We got changed and then decided to explore the city centre, the hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk to the city centre, but the stroll is nice as you pass the river on your way. We had a look around the city centre and had a couple of traditional irish guinnesses to keep us warm.
My boyfriend was disappointed that they did not sell Murphy's as we had been to Cork a couple of months earlier and he had a taste for Murphy's then, but even so, the guinness was really nice.
We spent most of the afternoons milling around the city centre and went on a couple of days trips, the nights were mostly spent going out for something to eat and you have guessed it, more beer.
I would recommend going into the irish bar at the end of the walkway by the river because it had a nice atmosphere and in the day, the log fire would be on and you would find all different types of people to talk to and by night, the pub livened up with live bands and live music being played.
We enjoyed our time in Cork and we would like to return one day, hopefully when the weather is a bit better, as it rained the entire time we were there.

Happy Holidays!!!

We'r just back from a weekend break at the Absolute Hotel. Overall experience was not good, primarily because of the service. On the plus side the rooms were nice & clean, and the decor overall very modern, funky. So that cant be faulted. However on the downside this hotel in my opinion was a big let down. The receptionist was very nice at check in, however we had to wait approx 30mins for a fob to park the car as some other resident had dissappeared with it. None spare. We proceeded to the rest on the 1st night for dinner, where we waited even more: 15mins at the bar to order a drink even though it wasnt busy, 40 mins for our starters after reminding the staff for them, 20mins for a pint of Guinness during our meal, we had to remind the waitress for this again, 40mins after our starter for main course at which point we had to ask if it would be long more. In fairness the head waiter apologised and offered free desserts at which stage we declined based on the standard of the food so far. Both main courses were terrible. I had Vegetarian curry which consisted of onions & a few courgette slices in the same sauce for the Thai Chicken Curry. (Mushy rice). The homemade burger on the other hand was tasteless and dried out. We tried to use the vending macine on the 3rd floor a few times & eventually rang reception for some help, they said they would send up some new key cards which never arrived. On calling down to reception they apologised again & reactivated our cards, machine still did not work, so tried the one on another floor, which worked immediately. Second evening meal was much faster and all alologies about previous nights service. Food was ok this time, except burnt Brownie for dessert, however the choice on the Supervalu menu was limited and no option for Steak or others with supplement. This was not a four star experience. We had a rocky table, not a major issue, but when we leaned on it the wine menu fell on top of the class ornament, & fell to the tiled floor, glass smashed everwhere and beside the next table. We told the waitress, mortified, that the table needed something under it. Again later another waiter noticed that the table was rocky and again promised to do something about it, of course nothing was done, so we just kept praying the glasses wouldnt go flying off aswell. Breakfast, standard self service, which is fine, but was luke warm as the containers were not hot enough! The cooked food was tasteless. Oily Mushrooms....Last but not least, was not even asked how our stay was on check out...I had read all previous reviews on Trip advisor and have to say that I had a completely different experience. The Mgt here really need to organise the staff to get this place in shape. If your looking for atmosphere & good service this hotel does not have it or certainly did not have it this wkd. In fact, the only thing we liked about this place was the Art work..

  • Liked — Artwork on the walls
  • Disliked — V poor service from staff. No atmosphere.

Have just returned from a few days at the Absolute Hotel, Limerick and I just want to say this hotel is fantastic.

The rooms are stylish and contemporary and the facilities are excellent.

The food was amazing and very good value for money - we can safely say this is some of the best food we have tasted anywhere in the world !

The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpfull and really made us feel welcome.

We will definately be going back and I would recommend this hotel to everyone, you will not be disappointed.

Also I must mention the value for money you won't get a better deal, we paid £50.00 a night for a double room - it was fab !!!!

Hotel is centrally located in Limerick, and close to the historic district. On-site parking is easy and free. Check-in was simple, and hotel has many amenities for an independent hotel: 24-hour gym, room service, larder at the lift, spa, restaurant. The on-site restaurant was quite expensive, but there aren't many other food options within a few block radius.

Basic room was well-lit and comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Shower had very good pressure, amenities were above-average. Closet space was minimal, as were drawers, which might be inconvenient for a longer trip. All in all, a great value in Limerick!

  • Liked — Style of hotel, variety of included amenities for the price
  • Disliked — Long walk for food/shopping
