“Very nice host”
Reviewed April 26, 2012

The host (Helen) is extremely nice and helpful during our one-night stay. Her place is in a great location, so we were able to leave our car behind and walk to all the pubs and restaurants (just across the river).

The room was nothing special, but then again we didn't visit Ireland to spend much time in our rooms...so that didn't bother us much. Breakfast was good, and we experienced good conversation with Helen throughout our meal. Very lovely!!

Helen is so friendly and helpful and I think this really makes this a brilliant B n B. Location is good, being only 5 or 10 minutes walk into town, and Helen directed us to a good restaurant and a pub where traditional music is played. Our room could've slept 4 people, so that gives you a good idea of its size, and the ensuite was a good size too, so I can't agree with other reviews that comment on room size. Also other reviewers comment on ther rooms looking a bit tired, but I would say that the beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, and if you want the latest decor you would probably have to be prepared to pay more!

Friendly host, great location. There had been some water damage to the roof of the room we stayed in, and the room certinally looked a bit tired - some dollars spent fixing it up wouldn't go astray. Breakfast was beautiful and the other guests staying there were friendly. We checked in right on 2pm (which was the time we had emailed ahead to say we would arrive) however our room wasn't ready and the cleaner was still cleaning. All we wanted was a rest but instead of the cleaner replacing the towels & cups (the only thing left to do in the room), she vaccuumed the whole house while we waited...we weren't too fussed but would've been great to have taken priority. Huge bathroom & good shower!

I got there without booking, and luckily the owner had a room for me. Nice, quiet room with bathroom and water boiler. Downtown is only a short 5-10 minutes walk away. Very nice breakfast in a nice environment and quiet neighbourhood. The owner, Helen, was really kind and friendly.

My wife & I stayed for one night (Sunday) in Limerick so I booked this B&B for its location. I thought that Sunday would be hard to find decent restaurants open so close to the city centre would be beneficial. The house itself isn't pretty from the outside and the inside needs a makeover. Our bathroom had a bad mould problem on the ceiling and it smelled like it. The bed was on the hard side but that didn't seem to worry me. Helen, the hostess, was very welcoming. She does everything in the house & she's a pretty good cook too. Her suggestions for Sunday night eating and drinks were spot on. Recommended for its great location and cheap rates.

It is difficult to give a thorough review of this B&B because the owner was away on holiday in Spain when we stayed here one night. In her absence she had a neighbor, Gino, look after my fiancé and me. Gino gave us a very friendly welcome to Limerick and wanted to hear about our plans in the area. We had to leave early the next morning for our next destination so we weren’t able to enjoy a sit down breakfast, but Gino left us a lovely and filling packed lunch to take with us in the morning, complete with a little note wishing us an enjoyable rest of our time in Ireland! We were actually the only guests in the whole house for our one night stay, so we were given a large room with a double bed and twin, even though it was just the two of us! The bathroom was also large and very clean, though the shower took some time to figure out. The room’s furnishings were plain, but well kept. And the mattress seemed pretty thin and old, but we both slept well anyway.

We also appreciated the location very much. We were traveling by public transportation and thought we wanted something maybe a little closer to the bus and train station, but after arriving in Limerick we realized that it’s a good thing Glen Eagles isn’t closer because the area around the station seems rundown and dirty. Glen Eagles is just across the bridge over the River Shannon in a cozy residential neighborhood. And this was only a 5-10 minute walk from the historic center of Limerick. I’m pretty confident we would stay here again if we visited Limerick again.
