I think it might be worth booking a room with a view don't know how much extra that would be. It's already a pricey hotel costing 119 a night for a twin room with breakfast and extra for parking.
All round it seemed like a nice hotel once you got used to using your door card in the lift that was strange. The leisure facilities were nice enough.
It's downfall was the breakfast. Considering there was at least 7 waiters and waitresses wondering around the breakfast room who were oblivious to their customers anyway you still had to get your own breakfast. I had to approach after some time waiting one waiter fur tea and coffee. Another waiter to clear the table as the waiter who brought the coffee & tea didn't do that. The same waiter to get a teaspoon.
Whilst sorting out the toast my plates were taken its a disaster and by the time you get sorted you can enjoy a semi cold breakfast.

The Strand is a modern hotel with average size rooms according to European customs. The rooms are very well done, neat and clean. There is an instant coffee and tea service in each room which is actually very good. The bath has lots of mirrors with tub and corner showers. Be sure to ask for wash clothes as they are not a standard item with bath and hand towels. The restaurant is very good with a little above average prices. They have a fixed price menu available which is a good bargain. The food was very good. We got the full breakfast package. It consists of a menu for ordering various basic breakfasts and a small buffet bar for some fruit, juices and cereals. The lounge was modern with average service provided.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Shannon River.

We stayed at the strand for a wedding first week in May 2013, the food served at the wedding was extremely slow and the last tables ran out of the mango sorbet,
If you know how many people are arriving for a wedding surely you would have enough food and enough staff on, the last tables had to ask for wine never to be seen again,
The bar closed in the wedding room without warning and then off we went to the residents bar were when I went to order brandy low and behold there was none, the staff in the residents bar had not a clue how to serve they were slow and again about 15 minutes later without warning the residents bar was closed hardly no-one got a drink, the chap in charge of the residents bar was rude and was not willing to offer people at least one drink, and rude is a nice description
Our rooms were clean and tidy and a nice size, breakfast was ok,
As we had paid for our room the day before on arrival after breakfast finished with our room we were chatting in lobby with wedding guests, on handing back the room card I was met with another rude chap who needs to learn manners
The rest of the staff were all lovely and helpful, I also think as a guest you should not be charged parking charges for staying at the hotel, our family will for sure not be staying there again

So off we were to Ireland for our honeymoon....a new country and experience for us...the entire trip booked on line and to our AMAZEMENT everything about this hotel is exactly as it is advertised. What a wonderful surprise and stay here ate the Limerick Strand. We were amazed how friendly, and helpful everyone was we just absolutley loved our stay here. The food was wonderful and that comment from a foodie that turns her nose up at lot at food. The entire staff at the Strand should be proud of themselves for making our stay soooo enjoyable and memorable...we HIGHLY recomment this hotel!

Room Tip: If you want a really quiet stay try and stay away friom the rooms below the 6th floor reception room...

I stayed at the Strand during a brief stop in Limerick on the say to the Cliffs of Moher. As such, we were not expecting much from the location as it was honestly just a place to stay after a long day of sightseeing farther south. Upon arrival, we had no difficulty locating the parking deck and the staff was kind and welcoming. Our room was clean, rather large (by European standards and American standards) and contained all of the amenities one would expect. I had a good night's sleep here and was very happy to see my room was very much as advertised. The price was also quite reasonable given the level of quality offered.

Breakfast at the hotel is a bit steep so we did ask the staff for a recommendation of a good place to get a quick bite on the way out of town. Unfortunately, while they were super-polite and very helpful, we wound up at the bakery across the street which served me quite possibly the worst chocolate muffin I have ever eaten. Other than that, this was a great stay and I would recommend the Strand to any traveler stopping in Limerick.

We celebrated my sisters baby shower with afternoon tea in the Strand hotel. We were seated in a lovey area in the bar overlooking the shannon. The staff in the bar were excellent and nothing was any trouble to them. They served us promptly and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the afternoon. We were very comfortable in the bar and enjoyed our afternoon. The food was delicious, more than enough for all and the staff catered for last minute dietary requirements with no problems. I would recommend this for any group looking to treat themselves to something nice and tasty on an afternoon.

We stayed with our two children to go to a Munster rugby match so an ideal walking distance location for Thomond Park. From talking to reservations on the phone when we had to change our booking, to arriving in reception, to the housekeeping staff that had to bring a spare bed to our room, to the service in the bar for food, each staff member was so helpful and just went that little bit further to make everything perfect for us. The hotel is lovely. The elevators are the only oddity in that first in first served, if someone presses floor 3 before floor 2 then you go to 3 before back down to 2. Bit of a chat about it every time you share the lift with someone and with the Irish humour there is always a witty comment. The bar food was lovely and the waitress was great. She knelt down and discussed the menu with our kids. When we realised our daughter had lost her ipod she went out to reception. It had been handed in and when she came back with it brought a packet of jelly sweets. Another little touch but that's what makes the difference.
The rooms are spotless, swimming pool was quiet and the location is great for the rugby nuts and then just over a bridge from the city itself. Loved the hotel but really was their people that made our short stay.
