“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2011

A group of us friends regularly travel away together for a weekend in Ireland. We decided this year to give Limerick a try, and we were very happy with our choice. We booked this hotel online and received a very favourable rate for B&B. What we didnt expect was the exceptional quality of this hotel.

Upon check in, we were greeted in a very spacious, modern and clean reception by a very pleasant staff member. Our rooms were located on the third floor and we were delighted with there spacious modern interior design. Each room had an enormous bed with comfortable stylish linen, flat screen TV, free WiFi, refrigerator, safe, all the mod cons. The bathroom was an adequate size with a separate bath and shower. If I had one complaint about the room, it was very hot. But once you got the air con going, it was ok.

The breakfast was buffet style and of good quality. The staff again were friendly and we could have no complaints here. We ate lunch in the bar one of the days and the quality was good. The scones are fantastic!!!!!!!!

We used the leisure facilities. I felt that the pool area was a bit dark. The website shows a fantatically illuminated pool, so I felt this to be a little let down. However, the pool was a good size and the jacuzzi and steam room were very enjoyable. The plunge pool nearly gave me a heart attack, Freezing(It was supposed to be).

Overall the hotel was excellent value for money and I would have no problem recommending it to anyone.

Really, really liked this hotel! The staff were so friendly and helpful. It had great views of the River Shannon and St. John's Castle especially when travelling upwards in their transparent elevator! The only problem with the beds was that they were too hard to get out of, they were that comfortable! Literally like sleeping on a cloud! The breakfast was lovely and the staff were so attentive! The pool is also very relaxing, as well as a sauna, steam room and a plunge pool if you dare! Would definitley return! In fact Limerick has to be one of the friendliest cities in Ireland. Its views of the Silvermines mountains on the way down are post card worthy and the city itself boasts an excellent nightlife and lots of opportunities for shopping! :)

Rooms are reasonably priced, and can get good discount if you bargain a little.
Its noisy at night time though, lots of stag parties.
Worst complaint would be bar service, slow and unattentive at the best of times :-)

All staff made us welcome from arrival.
The rooms were large with good quality linen, tea, coffee and a refrigerator.
Breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choices.
Located very close to the city centre with most attractions of Limerick within walking distance.
Excellent hotel and good value.
We had a deal with dinner on one night, the dinner in the restaurant was very good.

My wife and I booked this hotel for a 5 night family break (with our 2 boys). From the moment of arrival the friendliness of all of the staff was excellent. They were so helpful too.

Our family room was excellent, it gave us that bit more space for the 4 of us. Room was very clean, bright and very comfortable. Was cleaned everyday.

The leisure facilities were great too.

Absolutely delighted with our family break to this hotel.

Stayed at the Strand for 2 nights and were not disappointed. Good standard of room, restaurant & bar. Only downside was the music in the bar which went onto 1.00 in the morning. Next time I would stay up and listen to it live.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the river

Nice hotel, shame about the ethos. I would have given a good review had I not been left with a bitter taste when checking out. I was annoyed and disappointed by the unnecessary and money-grabbing 5 Euro overnight parking charge. Having expressed my disgust, I was given some lame excuse about all other Limerick hotels doing similar (two wrongs ?) and they did not fully (?) own the parking facility (no planning permission without parking). The only other thing I was offered was a demand for payment. While not a huge amount, for me, this cheap attempt at scalping the last few quid from the customer, sums up their customer service ethos. No thanks.
