“Great Location - Reasonable Rates”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2011

The Limerick Strand hotel is centrally located and a great home base for exploring many Ireland locations. This somewhat upscale hotel has a Scandinavian feel (room style and decor) with spacious rooms and most conveniences. Room rates during our stay were very reasonable. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located on the River Shannon very close to the heart of the city.

The only issue we had was broken items in our room. Specifically, a light fixture, toilet, and no cold water in the bathtub. We asked to have them repaired but they were not. Having said this, we would stay there again.

Great Hotel, Great Staff, Great location but the food is BEYOND Extraordinarily expensive. do NOT arrive hungry or you'll enbd paying as much for a meal as you did for a room if not more i.e. room €30 a BURGER called some outlandish name but at the end of the day a burger is a burger €16.50.
You need to address this people of the hotel. Every other aspect would make me go back but that one woul dmake look elsewhere

Dear EC74

Thank you for your recent review.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for your feed back on our menu pricing. We provide a wide variety of menu items to suit all budgets. We pride ourselves on using fresh locally produced ingredients, which may on occasion cost more. Reciently we began a value menu for dinner which has three courses for €21. We constantly review guest feedback and make changes to our business to improve our guests expierences.

We hope to welcome you back again in the near future,

Kind Regards
Sean Lally

We decided to go to Limerick at the last minute and so walked into the hotel without a booking. We got a double room for EUR70 which we thought was quite reasonable. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed.

It was in a good location if one cared to stroll around Limerick, just opposite the city and a pleasant walk across the bridge.

We ate in the restaurant where we received excellent food and service.

Good for quick visits to Limerick or business travellers.

Rooms spacious and comfortable but unfortunately extremely hot I had to sleep with windows open and even then it was uncomfortably hot. Could not control the temperature on the bath tap and the water was boiling and the shower was not much better the next morning. However apart from that everything was good with this hotel. Had room service to my room that evening and it was very nice and I was not waiting long at all. Breakfast the next morning was great with plenty of choice. The staff were extremely helpful. The location is perfect away from the hustle and bustle of the city but just a short walk across Sarsfields bridge to the shops, nightlife etc. All in all I would consider this a very nice hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Been staying two to three times a year I'n the strand for the past three years. At the start it was new modern clean with good service. The last couple of stays have seen poor duty management, lack lustre service, poor house keeping and general lack of care. I have "mislaid" valuable items on two stays with poor followup from duty management although deputy general manager did contact me on several occasions after I left.
Many times I left a glass or cup down on reception area to return 12 hours and it still be there. Unfortunate as is a beautiful building and location .

I have stayed in many hotels and I have to say that all things considered, this is my favorite. My basic requirements for an acceptable hotel are that it must be clean and the bed must be comfortable. This hotel, of course, met those basic of requirements but exceeded all of my requirements and expectations. The front staff gave my daughter and I an absolutely wonderful room that overlooked the Shannon River. The decor was simple but delightful. I loved the red leather couch and the accent colors. The glassed in balcony was such a surprise and we enjoyed a cold "Bulmers" cider out there and enjoyed it immensely. Breakfast was typical Irish fare and couldn't have been better. And of course, the coffee didn't disappoint me...after all I am in Europe! Can't get that coffee many places in the states.
From beginning to end our 2-day stay was perfection. We loved visiting all of the shops in Limerick, the folks were all so friendly. (Visit Smyths for a wonderful meat casserole and Bulmer's for a real treat).
Cannot wait to come back and thank you to the staff of the Strand Limerick for such a wonderful stay. You were a large part of the reason it was so perfect. We will be back. I will not stay anywhere else.

The view of the city and the Sarsfield Bridge twinkling at night from the 6th floor wedding reception suite could have been from anywhere spectacular in the world, some guests likened it to being in New York.
The tables and chairs were tastefully dressed in keeping with the occasion.
Guests commented on the dress of the waiters and waitress including their immaculate gloves.
The wedding meal which was delicious started with a surprise appetiser for all the adults. This was followed by a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses with a special vegetarian main for one guest. The dessert choices and the wines were excellant. The best surprise was saved until last when carved ice swans were brought to each table - white and black grapes were in the centre whilst attached moulded spoons held a selection of amazing petit fours. The children were delighted to see a swan land on their table and all were photographed with hands outstretched towards it.
It was great to have a private bar and a place for our band to play away from the rest of the hotel.
Our room during the 6 night stay was a city view suite with lounge area, luxurious bathroom and enclosed balcony overlooking the Sarsfield Bridge (which was lit at night). We loved this room with it's fabulous view and comfort. A newspaper was outside our door every morning and bottled water was replenished daily.
The service throughout the hotel was courteous and of high quality. Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety of foods to choose from.
