My partner and I visited Casa Nostra on the 7th of November for a romantic meal. This was our second visit to Casa Nostra and I really have to say, it was even more impressive than before. I booked our visit on the restaurant's Facebook page. Antonio (the owner) replied within 10 minutes and we were all set. From the moment you open the door, Antonio and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The fact that he welcomes you by name, even before you say a single word is just lovely and unique. I began with a starter of traditional Sardinian bread and olives, while my partner had bread with a mozzarella and mushroom topping. Both starters were very tasty. For my main, I had sirloin steak with a green pepper sauce along with roasted garlic and rosemary cubed potatoes and veg. The steak was so tender and full of flavour on its own but paired with the sauce, it was simply out of this world! My meal was complimented by a glass of red wine chosen for me by Antonio. My partner chose chicken in a spicy tomato sauce (Straccetti Alla Diavola). As she is not particularly fond of very spicy food, she asked Antonio about how spicy it is. Not only did he describe what the sauce would be like, he also offered to make it less spicy for her taste. This dish turned out to be really very tasty and enjoyed very much. All of this was followed by dessert. For me, a coffee and ice-cream combo. I love coffee and this was really a treat for me. For my partner, she chose a mousse which was similar to creme brulee which she really enjoyed. Overall, we really had a great time at Casa Nostra. To anyone thinking of visiting this place, you honestly need to experience it. I can't tell you how many times I've left other restaurants feeling like I was just another customer but here, Antonio makes you feel like you are over at his home for a meal. He just oozes enthusiasm for his establishment and you can tell he genuinely loves what he is doing. He even teaches you a bit of Italian, how much more authentic can you get than that?! The service is outstanding. Something that I found amazing was that at the end of our meal, while speaking to Antonio, I happened to mention that we used to visit an Italian restaurant in another part of Ireland which we found in recent times was actually not that special anymore. It turned out that he actually worked there when we used to visit years ago, back when we had fallen in love with the place! Looking at the fact that he now owns such a fantastic place is testament to him. Forget all those other places in town that serve the same stuff day in day out, go try it here and you will not be disappointed. Sum it up in three words? Actually, I only need one, Superb! We're only home and already we're looking forward to next time.
