“Not 4star”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

We arrived after the carpark was closed - staff opened it up, it was dark and I didnt feel safe - so not good first impression. Reception staff v friendly & helpful. Lifts v slow, room was a gd size, bathroom clean and overall the room was clean, although the window ledge needed a gd scrub. Beds very comfortable. Swimming pool v small and the ladies changing rooms was v dark, quite a few light bulbs needed replaced. Breakfast was a free for all - no organisation etc Food was tasty and lovely view. Will not stay here again, due to carpark, I was travelling with 2 young children.

Doesn't quite reach the standards that is aimed for in all the hotel bumph. The check-in was fine but check-out was slow and the simple task of validating the car park ticket took two staff to complete. The location is good and the views are great; my room was 14th floor facing the Clare hills and the city. Decent size and clean. But the double bed was actually two singles pushed together with a very pronounced ridge in the middle, making for an uncomfortable sleep.
The corridor is need of a fresh coat of paint.
Breakfast was disappointing; I was in the restaurant early and the cooked buffet was very unappealing. Beautiful setting for the restaurant but the windows were very dirty; perhaps it's the price to be paid for the riverside location.
I don't think I will be returning as there are better hotels around the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view.

Good location,for shopping and pubs,restaurants.
Carpet in room looked old and not well fixed down......not even a bottle of water in the room which was badly needed as room was roasting.....AC was set at reception to heat room!
DJ on the saturday nite did not seem to fit age profile.
Friendly staff.

Stayed here at a conference weekend, had heard it was good hotel. It's a very tall building with 13 floors at least.

Lots of restaurant options and all good with really efficient staff asking you constantly if there was anything you needed. They were also very friendly.

Gym and pool are also very well equipped and reflect a real modern hotel ethos.

Recommend staying, only slight down side is that lifts (while there are plenty) are quite slow but apart from this good value well equipped with good food (apart from breakfast sausages).

I stayed for four nights on business in April 2013. I arrived at 1130 PM and was greeted by a very nice young man at the front desk. However, the parking garage used by the hotel was "closed" and despite 5 mins of phone calls to fellow staff members, he could not find someone to help him open it. So he took it upon himself to open the garage to let me in. A very nice gesture but the only true shining moment of service in my stay. On the reverse, my room safe was not working and it took two phone calls and two days to fix. The room was clean, quiet, had free fast WiFi and a nice flat panel TV. The breakfast buffet food quality was one small step above a breakfast out of a can or jar. In summary, the hotel is OK - but not 4-star quality as sold.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have less ambient light from the outdoor spotlights that glare on the hotel until...

stayed here for a hen and place was packed with other hen parties so wouldn't recommend at weekends for a family break or couples. although they did seem to put all our hen group on the one floor so maybe they keep them separate.
room was lovely, clean and spacious with a comfy bed and a strong shower.
had dinner in hotel as part of package twas nice...room was packed with all large groups.
location is around a 5min walk up to the main streets but its a bit if a dodgy area and i felt a bit unsafe on my own even at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.
overall nice place but previously stayed in the George in limerick and would prefer that although rooms at the clarion nicer
