“Excellent value,good service”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

Just needed a hotel for one night, centrally located & not expensive. This was excellent - it is an example of a hotel that offers good value for money. Room was basic, but for what I paid, it was excellent. Staff very friendly & refreshing to find a hotel these days where the breakfast is cooked to order, very nice! Keep up the good work - we need more of these types of hotels where good value is key.

We were only at the hotel to sleep after a long day of exploring the Ring of Kerry, then we left early for the Cliffs of Moher the next day. But the hotel was very clean, great price, we ate breakfast in the restaurant and the prices were reasonable. I would stay here again. Beds were also comfortable!

We only stayed here one night, so we didn't have high expectations. The hotel is right on the river and our rooms had nice views. The location was great, but the rooms were fairly average. The WIFI had a poor signal quality on our floor; you had to go into the hall to get reception. The shower was handheld, which wasn't ideal but was workable.

Parking was almost a huge problem. The garage under the hotel was free, but was very small and completely full when we got there. The staff didn't know of anywhere else to park for free and suggested a parking service that they had a deal with. Luckily, by the time we got back down to the garage someone left, and we promptly stole their spot.

Overall, it was a great value for the price, if you can live without high end luxury.

Ive stayed in The Pier hotel a few times, and I couldnt really fault it. Its in a great location, particularly if you plan on shopping or heading out in Limerick city, as its within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and good bars. The rooms are clean and spacious, and its extremely good value. Any time Ive stayed, I not paid more than around €20, which I would have to pay for a 5/6 minute taxi ride from my home in Ennis into the town centre, and home again, so the value in The Pier Hotel is a great excuse to go to Limerick for a change of scenery!

The staff have always been nice and helpful. There is a bar in the hotel, and they serve residents late into the night. The last time I stayed there, the bar staff gave us complimentry cocktails upon our return from our night out, even though we had already purchased other drinks!

The only awkward thing about staying here is parking. They have a very limited number of customer parking spaces in an on site car park, which has a barrier at the entrance. You need to be there early to get a spot. And you have to phone reception upon arrival to get them to raise the barrier. This caused problems for us the first time we stayed, as we couldnt get through to reception, and had to park on double yellow lines and go into the hotel to find a member of staff. As it turned out, the carpark was already full, so we had to park in the Dunnes carpark near it, but they dont have any connection with this carpark, so it can work out quite expensive if you arrive early and want to spend some time in the city the next day.

Other than that though, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

For the price charged this hotel is unbeatable value. A large goup of us arrived last Friday for a two night stay and we got 5 star service from all of the staff. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are better than average for a 3 star hotel - clean, tidy and a decent size. Everyone in the group thought this hotel could not have been better for our stay. The service was much better and friendlier than the last 5 star hotel I stayed in.

This is an older hotel that has recently updated their decor. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but the staff is the real reason I will never stay anywhere else when visiting Ireland. These people will go out of their way to make sure your stay is the dream vacation you are looking for. Free parking in their secure underground parking, advice on what attractions are the best to see and which ones will be a bit of a let down, excellent food and staff in the restaurant and bar, and the location is perfect in the heart of the city within walking distance to most everything.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor on the weekends so you do not hear the bar noise and if you are looking for a...

This hotel is in a great location for Limerick City. We stayed here for one night in a superior room. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean but tiny. Dinner was included in our package and while the food was nice, the service was slow and by the time we got the food it was almost cold. Overall we were happy enough with our stay it was only for one night and it suited us fine and like I said, it is in a great location.

Room Tip: Wouldn't recommend paying extra for a superior room as they are tiny.
