Booked 3 rooms for 3 couples for 30/31st of December.

On the morning of the 30th my dad was rushed to hospital with a serious heart attack and had to undergo heart surgery.

On the Friday morning my boyfriend emailed them and explained the situation to see of we could just cancel my room, to which the hotel replied no sorry it is a non refundable booking.

Pretty disquisting customer service from the hotel no humanity or regard.

the hotel is in walking distance of all shopping districts and nightlife but the hotel and it's service level is very basic it just does not seem to 'flow', the breakfast is self service and you have to find this out yourself(was sitting at my table waiting for service) the rooms are basic and not very big and there can be a lot of noise from other rooms as it's a budget hotel, the bar staff forgot to get us our drinks

The hotel is located right in the centre of city......pubs,clubs and shops a stones throw away. No need for taxis. Also Thomond pk is about 10 min walk. It has limited free parking (for about 15 cars by the looks of it) which I was lucky to get. The room was big enough and had 2 double beds. The hot water did not work in the shower but after 5 mins of informing reception we were moved to the same room a floor up. I have read other reviews about noise from the bar if located in a room over it (which we were in) but I we didnt hear a thing but that could of been because we didn't get in til late. We were on a deal for B & B, dinner, champagne and choc's. The dinner was lovely, champs and chocs a nice touch but the breakfast was good only for the eggs were like cheewing on rubber. In saying that i went upto the counter after we nearly finished ours and there were fresh eggs (maybe were just unlucky at time we went for breakfast)! The hotel itself is small and basic with a nice modern bar. I would recommend this to people like myself, that are going to Limerick for a day/night away, shopping and a few beers and that want a basic centrally located hotel and with good staff and nice food.

We got an online deal voucher for this so we had a very good value stay. They weren't able to give us the room we were supposed to get as it was v busy that weekend which we agreed to. The room we got was small, bit bleak if I am honest though it was very clean and you could see that they had made an effort to recently paint and decorate it. It just needed a bit more personal touches, like some cushions and better windows etc. Walls were a bit thin too.
It is a great location and is good value but not an upmarket hotel which they seem to be trying to appear. The staff were nice but the receptionist guy was overwhelmed when we were there. We found it very hard to get into the car park as he was too busy to buzz us in and I had to go and wait 15 mins to even get his attention at the desk. The included dinner in our package was fairly sad. The sausage and mash was very basic with cheap small, breakfast sausages and the the soup and apple pie was only ok. The waiter was scatty and bit rough around the edges. The bar clientele were young and dare I say it a bit rough but fine I'm sure. We enjoyed our visit but I wouldn't recommend for a romantic trip. Great value though and ideal for a night out or a hen/stag party.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the highest floor as is less noisy

i stayed at the hotel Saturday the 19th after getting a " romantic wine and dine package" what a joke.
first of all the car park is tiny with only a few spaces, our rooms were a big disappointment with the walls and carpets filthy and covered in stains-i didn’t take off my socks walking on the floor! the toilet door wouldn’t close properly and the noise was unbelievable i don’t know how we slept- we couldn’t make out whether it was the toilet system or elevator.
our package included champagne and chocolate but they weren’t in our room, i had to go down twice and ask for them because the telephone wouldn’t work. Went out and came back still no champagne and chocolate, when it did come it came with no glasses and wasn’t in a cooler as it had been advertised in the picture!!! Not very romantic-had to go back down for glasses. It wasn’t even cheap champagne just cheap sparkling wine maybe all the champagne was gone by the time we got it!!
the restaurant was like watching faulty towers-with food and drinks going to the wrong tables constantly-there were always out of a few things-was waiting ages!!!!!! Breakfast service was a lot better!!!!!!
The only good time about this hotel is location but i would have preferred to stay further out this i had known this was the romantic night away i was getting!!!

this hotel is very basic,, but not very exciting but if it is location your looking for this is the one, the staff were helpfull as there was some problems on a very busy weekend, phone was out of order so we had to book by email, when we arrived our room card did not work, and they would not take a credit card only cash even though they did take our credit card number in case we did a runer?? when they are sorted out it could be a great central hotel very cheap and good for people on a budget

Room Tip: ask for a view of the river

Dear DublinNina,
Thank you for your review.
We are sorry that you experienced some issues during your stay, but please allow me to explain that the Hotel has recently changed ownership - this resulted in our credit card machines being out of order while waiting for new ones and also there was a changeover in the telephone account etc. which meant that for a short period, we were without a phone line.
The telephone matter was resolved within a few hours and our credit card machines will be up a running in a few weeks time.
Our staff are still the same, reliable and friendly staff - many of whom have been with us since we opened in October 2010. We believe we are now sorted out and hope that you will visit us again in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly should you wish to make a booking at thelma@thepierhotellimerick.com. Thank you again for your comments. Thelma
