“Great interactive exhibits”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

If you have children you definitely should visit the castle. The exhibits are meant to entertain. You can play a challenge game of guessing the outcome of judicial cases based on early Irish law. There are "characters" throughout the castle (filmed) ready to discuss the details of their job or other aspects of life during a siege. The views from the top of the castle walls of the River Shannon are amazing. This is not just another museum.

“Lots of history!”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

The recently renovated King John's Castle is definitely worth a visit. The new displays present hundreds of years of history in an interesting way, with pictures, video, and video craftsmen; it's really very engaging. You can go "under" the castle to view the archaeological areas...kind of creepy. The main courtyard has friendly costumed docents, and you can climb the tower for amazing views of Limerick. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours and get a better understanding of the history of this area.

“Excellent Presentation”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

All you need to know about king John's era, the culture, dress, are presented here. The historic period is at your eye there. Palace, the foundations, excavations and structure is not much more. but you will learn lot if you carefully watch everything. Most of the modern media technologies have been used to explain the past.. You will not go for a guide at all. A guide is always not standard. Might depend on what he learnt. here the truth you get. So many simulations of past life situations are interesting. this is also for all ages. There are some items to simulate or play. You will never forget King John's castle.
