“Change the name or improve "seafood" menu options”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

We were looking forward to a delicious dinner experience last night, having been told by hotel staff that this was a seafood bar/pub. While we notice on the bill it is now just called a "bar", the sign outside still calls it a "Seafood Bar". Not! There were some fish choices like smoked salmon & fish/chips but not at all what we expected. So wish we'd returned to the Glass House where the bill was almost double but that included an amazing 3-course dinner with a bottle of lovely wine.
At the Curragower Bar, NOT "seafood bar", the service was friendly, as we have experienced everywhere in Ireland, but the menu choices were disappointing. I had a burger which came with fries & a salad, & it was good, but not outstanding. My husband had the fish & chips which he thought were adequate but far from what he was expecting to be able to order in a "seafood" pub. Beer was fine, but where isn't that the case! I order the sticky toffee pudding which came as a slice of cake lathered in a caramel sauce, again not what I've experienced elsewhere. We came away disappointed that we hadn't just left after the beer & sought out somewhere else to eat.

Haven't tried the food here but the beer and atmosphere is great.
Great place to have a few drinks with lovely views of King John's castle and the river.

“good food but the "sea" could be more prominent”
Reviewed April 28, 2012

a very tasty and generously garnish fish pie. friendly relaxed and efficient staff and a great location. All the ingredients of a great dinning spot which it is. I just felt that for a "seafood bar" the menu could have offered more seafood
