“Fascinating-an insight into how things have changed in a lifetime.”
Reviewed May 13, 2012 via mobile

My mum was born in 1938 when all this was going on. Amazing to look at Foynes now and imagine what an important place it has been...presidents and Hollywood stars...the war....etc
Great place to spend an afternoon. This is where Irish Coffee was invented and they are still served now. Have one at the beginning of your tour if you are driving. Lovely!

“great histroric trip”
Reviewed May 12, 2012

This museum is extremely well done starting with an amazing hologram presentation. There are lots of items of memorabilia and a very knowledgale guide to walk you through everything. Our guide was a descendant of one of the people who lit the flares to guide arriving flying boats, adding a great personal touch. Films and a mock-up of an early commercial passenger flying boat add greatly to the presentation. Also this is where irish coffee was created and you get a presentation on how it's made and can buy some here. All in all a nice surprise.

“Almost forgotten bit of History”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

The era of the Flying Boats did not last long, but Foynes was the Shannon Airport of that time. There is a replica of a Yankee Clipper. Just to compare the luxury of air travel then to todays mass transit airlines is worth the visit. Great film footage also. BTW, Irish coffee was invented in the very building housing the museum.
