Am a regular customer of this restaurant. Have never had a bad meal here and love love love their chicken pitta with side order of garlic potatoes!
Suited to families as it has a great childrens menu and also for parties and couples. The decor isnt amazing but not offensive either, just looks a little to much like a lunch venue but food is 5 star.

A small cozy little restaurant off the main street in Kilkenny with a very varied, interesting menu.
Recently went for an "early bird" menu (Euro 23 for 2 courses/28 for 3 courses)....4 choices of starters/mains/deserts. At 23 Euro, it was a little pricey, but had been told the food was delicious there, so decided to give it a go. Absolutely NOT disappointed with the food. All 4 of us who ate together sampled 3 of the 4 starters, all 4 mains and 2 deserts....and not one single complaint. In fact, everything was so perfectly cooked and presented and tasted delicious. Undoubtedly one of the BEST meals I have had for a long time.
But.....big downside was the price of wine. Cheapest bottle was a chilian Merlot for 20 Euro. Having shared with my one of my friends, including wine, my bill was 38 Euro. This was NOT cheap for an early bird and would be the only reason for my not returning there again.
So perhaps......skip the wine and deserts to make it a little more affordable. If you do that....it is defintely worth the visit. thumbs up for Cafe Sol.

Went there recently to celebrate a birthday with friends. Food was fabulous. The menu and specials give ample choice. All the food served to us and indeed to those around us looked and smelled beautiful. Waiting staff were friendly and helpful in a non intrusive way. Always worth a visit if in the area.

We ate here on the Monday evening of a bank holiday weekend which may account for a slightly wearied atmosphere. The menu is ambitious, aiming to be a modern eclectic style, and it comes off at times. The first courses were well done; such as the seafood platter my son had and my pork meatballs. The main courses were really huge and the falafel two of us chose as a main course was a bit crumbly and more of a paste. The desserts were good.

Had a delicious meal here on a Thursday evening recently. The restaurant offered a set price menu until 9oclock whereas many other restaurants only offered a set price menu until 7pm which was a little early for us. There was a good choice of food on the menu and wines were reasonably priced. The food itself was delicious and well presented and I thought the portions were ample. The staff were really friendly and helped to make the whole experience even more enjoyable.
