“Comfortable and Welcoming”

Stayed at Ballykeeffe in June with friends and had a brilliant time. The farmhouse has plenty of room (3 bathrooms a definite bonus for 6 adults) and excellent facilities - everything you could think of (microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, gas BBQ, garden furniture, pool table, basketball net, wood for fire, lovely comfortable beds). Is very quiet and peaceful location with easy taxi ride into Kilkenny (we paid 20-25 euros each way for a minibus for 6 - very good value). Brigid made us feel very welcome, providing milk, butter, jam and soda bread for our arrival, and showing us around to make us feel at home.
Whilst there we visited the Rock of Cashel - well worth a visit (have tea and cake in the little cafe near the carpark), and Kilkenny a number of times. Visit The Field for the best pint of Kilkenny - we sampled a few, and Lanigans on Sunday night for an excellent band (Measca).
Some directions given on reviews aren't very accurate but isn't that hard to find. R695 out of Kilkenny, past the John Deere Garage on the left, past Dooley Brothers Engineering on the left, next left (L10131), follow road to bottom and you'll see the farmyard with the red painted doors.
Can't recomment this property enough - would love to return

“Fantastic stay at Ballykeeffe Farmhouse”

My family of 6 stayed at Ballykeeffe from May 28 to June 4, 2016. The cottage is located on a working farm about 6 miles from Kilkenny center. Brigid greeted us on arrival and gave us a tour of the cottage. Ham the dog greeted us later. The cottage was spacious, included a large kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a living room and was in excellent condition. The cottage was quiet and very comfortable. Across the road was Ballykeeffe Woods which offered walking/jogging trails which we utilized several times during our stay. Kilkeeny was a short drive from the cottage and offered excellent pub food and music. Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow are short drives from Killkenny. Next time we visit Kilkeeny we will stay at Ballykeeffe Farmhouse.

“Perfect family Easter break”
Reviewed June 6, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Three generations travelled to Ballykeeffe Farmhouse for Easter 2016 and it was simply perfect. Grandad was 80 and our 3 kids ranged from 5 - 10 years old. The house is over 300 years old, so we expected oldy worldy and not the polished Ritz, however, it was spotless and had all the mod cons needed. Our hosts were lovely and welcoming. We got a tour of the farm and, along with the children, were invited to witness the cows being milked and fed early one morning. It was a great experience for all. Also Dan and his son took them for a spin on the tractors, which made their day. Brigid very kindly provided us with fresh bread and some provisions in the fridge for our arrival, and also 3 Easter eggs. The kids had a safe, enclosed yard to play in and kick a ball about, and the great weather made that possible. We only used the kitchen for breakfast and ate out the rest of the time. Having room to move about, as opposed to being crammed into an hotel room was just great. This was the first time we rented a house, and I would definitely do again. House was only 10 minutes from Kilkenny city. But directions that Trip Adviser held were absolutely wrong, so please contact the owner for full and proper directions. 3 months later (finally writing review) and our kids still talk fondly of our holiday.

“Absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed May 10, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This property exceeded all our expectations. On our arrival Bridget had left fresh bread, butter, milk, jam -- in fact everything we might need to get ourselves started. She could not have been more welcoming or helpful but was never intrusive. The farmhouse was immaculate and had every appliance, pot, pan, dish or piece of crockery anyone could possibly wish for. In fact, it was a home away from home. This was our last week in Ireland and was the perfect end to a wonderful vacation. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone. Absolutely five stars!

“Perfect farmstay”
Reviewed May 2, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Brigid and Dan are the best hosts for any farm stay. Dan was kind enough to help repair my suitcase. Brigid prepared lovely scones and bread to welcome our stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and was our favorite room in the entire house. It is the best. Home away from home.

“Lovely, quaint farmhouse!”

This farmhouse is the perfect retreat for a holiday near Kilkenny. It has been restored and is wonderfully clean, with plenty of space, and a comforting, home-y feeling! Brigid and Dan are amazing hosts; Brigid greeted us with warm, homemade scones, and had milk and butter and jam waiting in the fridge. Dan gave us a tour of the working farm and introduced us to the new baby cows!

Each night we asked for a fire to be made upon our return back to the farmhouse, and it was the perfect way to unwind from exploring the countryside. Hamish the dog also greeted us in the driveway with a smile.

The house itself is stocked with plenty of linens, and electric blankets if there's a little chill.

We would definitely return during our next stay in Kilkenny. We felt like we were at home and loved every minute at Ballykeeffe Farmhouse! Thank you Brigid and Dan!
