“Great location, great room, friendly staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2011

This place is modern yet comfortable. We had a comfortable bed and a large tub and felt thoroughly relaxed. Our view over the parking lot led to Kilkenny Castle and the National Crafts Museum, so even the "bad" view was quiet and interesting. The staff was incredible nice and helpful and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant was basically empty in the evening, which was surprising given that the food we had was actually very good and cooked just right. Breakfast was buffet-style, with either continental or full-Irish available and both very tasty. The location is central to the city and less than a mile from the major attractions. Free parking on site makes it easy to get to locations further afield. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kilkenny.

We recently stayed at the Pembroke, having consulted reviews, and we were not disappointed. The location is great, within walking distance of the town centre and all the main sights. The hotel itself has rather a boutique feel, and was very clean. Our room was well appointed with views of Kilkenny Castle. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, and were overheard fielding some very bizarre enquiries with graciousness. I believe there is a spa on sight, and a gym, but unfortunately owing to time constraints, we did not have the opportunity to avail of same. Breakfast was great - the usual full Irish, and with proper cafetiere coffee! We asked if we could leave the car in the carpark after checkout while we explored the sights and this was facilitated. In short, a great hotel, and I plan to be back soon!

This was our first stop in Ireland during a recent 2 week trip. We arrived at about 9 PM during a rainstorm after a drive down fro Dublin airport. The young woman working the desk was very welcoming and we got a quick dinner reservation at a nearby Italian restaurant that was quite good.

Our room was comfortable and breakfast was well done. We would stay here again, the location in the center of Kilkenny close to shops and pubs is great.

Myself, my husband and 2 other couples stayed here for the bank holiday weekend during the comedy festival and I could not fault the hotel. We were lucky enough to be given a superior room (even though we did not pay supplement) and it was a great size room with everything you could want (no fridge, but plenty of ice available at the bar) very clean. We had a problem with our sink which was seen to by the manager of the hotel approx 5 minutes after we called reception. all the staff in every section of the hotel were so friendly and really made sure we had a very relaxing stay.
Brilliant location, right in the center of the town, lots of great bars, shops, restaurants close by and Kilkenny Castle only 2 minutes walk away.
We ate breakfast each morning and had dinner in the bar once and always found food to be great.
I would have no problems in recommending this hotel to anyone.

This is a good hotel, with an exceptional staff and decent food. A couple of small frustrations: you get the sense that they have catered strongly to the business traveller because there is a whole array of different sockets for plug in (ie adapter not needed), and Wifi is free (hra!) but there are no spare standard sockets either side of the bed (arg!) and only two three-pin sockets in the room in total. The shower has one of those glass half-covers, which for some reason never seems to stop water from gathering in small pools on the floor. Hard to get consistent heat in the shower (would go hot then cool, then hot again). No mini-bar / fridge in the room, although The Pembroke definitely gets points for an ironing facility and a tea / coffee making set, complete with biscuits. Room service cuts off at 10-ish. Walls between rooms are thin enough, although in general, it's a quiet spot. Breakfast is bang on. Recommended for 3.5 stars really, but a few simple changes would kick it up a star for me..

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the garden

We stayed at the Pembroke for our anniversary and got a superior room with castle views. The room was really nice - a decent size, very clean and comfortable, and the bed was lovely and firm, so the castle view just topped it off!!

We had breakfast included, which was a very tasty choice of both hot Irish breakfast and cold fruit and cereals with pastries, so everything you needed t start the day.

The location couldn't be better - right in the heart of the city so everything is within walking distance.

The staff were as helpful as could be, and very friendly which jut added to the experience.

We also ate in the restaurant one evening and it was fantastic so can also recommend that.
