“worse place ive ever stayed. Never again”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

When we got there the smell of the place as we walked in was disgusting we thought was just bar but rooms were as bad. We got put in a room wit absolutely nothing in it telly not working, bath mats as towels you could barely get into the bathroom. When we complained about telly there answer was come down to the bar and watch it we just wanted something on when we were getting ready must be there only way of getting people in the bar. We were charged €100 for 2 of us per night we were disgusted we don't mind paying cheap for basic accommodation but for that price was scandalous we wouldn't stay here again for free. The breakfast the next morning was rotten we only got half a breakfast she said they had ran out of food and toast was taking off other tables and giving to us at this stage we thought our stay was a wind up we were sick 2 our stomachs with the service that was enough for us we packed our bags immediately and left we couldn't stay another night. We've stayed places before that had bad reviews and they've been grand when we got there once we've somewhere to sleep but this place is in a league of it own. it was disgusting and a rip off. never been any were as bad

Room Tip: dont stay in any of them

Stayed here last weekend for a stag weekend. For the money we paid then I was expecting an awful hotel / hostel. Beds were comfortable, room was clean, bathroom aswell. Eugene, the clerk is a character who made us all laugh. As it says on the tin. No issues at all. Don't go expecting 5* for €30/€35 quid a night. Not that kind of place but absolutely perfect for what we needed.

I stayed there with a group of friends on a stag last weekend. I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews here but, happily, those concerns were not realised. When we got there, all the rooms were ready (Just a tip, I rang a few days beforehand to make sure they were ready for when we arrived) and Hughie was manning the bar in fine spirits. Now, rooms are basic and you wouldn't be booking your honeymoon here but, for a stag, it is fine. Staff are very friendly and helpful and are flexible re: stags and hens. The complaints re the showers are probably justified as one of the rooms seemed to have 2 settings (i) boiling hot and (ii) off. The shower in my room did not stay in the holder so had to be held by hand. Not exactly major complaints when you are on a stag though. Breakfast was great and the bar is nice with great pints of porter. Hughie looked after us during the day and Ray looked after us at night. Nobody had any major complaints but it may not be ideal for couples or families.

This place makes its trade on stag nights who generally aren't fussy. And you wouldn't want to be. As part of a package from stagparty.ie I feel completely shafted. Cowboy establishment who took total advantage. Rooms wont ready until you've bought a few drinks. Door bust open at 4.30am by manager rowing with another tenant. Showers have one setting 'unbearably hot' Had to share one key between 3 people because 'we don't like giving out keys'. What???

We stayed here on a stag for 2 nights. Unfortunately we had booked the place without checking the reviews first. The owner/manager is the biggest con artist, cowboy you'll ever meet. We arrived there at around 6pm and our rooms convenient ly weren't ready, so we all had a couple of drinks in the bar.The beer must be gone off.we eventually got 1 key card for 3 of us staying in the room.shower was broken and the water was boiling hot that no one out of the group could shower. We waited 10 minutes for the door to be opened when we got back to the place that night and eventually the guy opened the door, grabbed me by the neck and started shouting abuse.I was very close to loosing the head. People DO NOT STAY HERE.Its damp, dirty

Came down for one night. The owner was very personable and accommodating. Old style bar with a warm fire. Great pint of Guinness. No complaints from our group of many. Next time I visit Kilkenny I will definitely stay here.
