Stayed at the Lyrath Hotel for one night, my wife was attending a conference there the next day. We were not exactly sure what to be expecting when we arrived but were more than impressed! The driveway up to the hotel is lovely and then there were 3 lovely labradors near the hotel entrance like a pride of lions (but very friendly ones). We were welcomed at our car by the porter who opened the car door for my wife and offered to park the car for us (very unexpected)! At check-in again we were welcomed and the porter then helped us with our bags and brought us to our room. The room (322) was new and you could still smell the new carpet smell in the corridor. He offered to show us the facilities in the room and was most pleasant. The room had some lovely toiletries and the towels and robes were fresh and didnt seem at all tired (as mentioned by another reviewer). We went to the pool which although small, we had it to ourselves for the most part. Theres a jacuzzi, which if there had have been more than the two of us might have been a bit tight. The steam room is the same, but like i say, it wasn't busy. The decor thoughout the hotel is very nice and its all seems very new. We went to Yindees - the Thai restaurant, for a meal, and the staff were friendly enough and appropriately attentive (although it was a bit expensive - but then maybe not too much for 5 star). Breakfast was lovely and there was a huge variety of choice.
I could not recommened this hotel enough.

Location is lovely, set in beautiful grounds. However, overall very disappointed.

Staff in the spa were lovely but it stopped there. Customer service not in abundance. our rooms were not ready to checkin to until 4pm on day of arrival, we arrived at 1pm. Staff in the restaurant were poor. We had to queue out the door of the restaurant to wait to be seated for breakfast, the queue waiting time was on average 15/20mins - not acceptable. Food was not good. Over priced completely. Rooms very basic, not the cleanest I have seen. Would not recommend, would not return.

My wife and I are back from a 2 night stay - Thurs & Friday at Lyrath. My wife had booked the Couples Experience in the Spa and having never had any type of treatment or spa experience I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it. The infinity pool was so refreshing. We had opted for a room upgrade to executive and it was worth it, with the extra room space and with fantastic views over the ground. We ate in the Yindees restaurant on the Thursday and service from the waiting staff was to be commended. Breakfast was excellent as should be expected in a 5*. Great walks in the grounds and a few minutes drive into Kilkenny.

Myself and my Husband had a 3 day stay in Lyrath Estate last month, and did not enjoy it at all. We were excited about staying in a 5 Star Hotel - but 5 Star it is not!!
The first thing to report is the bad air about the place. The Staff do not seem happy at all and are therefore very unfriendly and do not engage with you. It just wasnt a friendly vibe at all, from the non-greeting we recieved at the front desk to the service we had in both restaurants and bar. There wasnt a smile to be had from anyone - and not in a snooty way - just a "couldn't care less way".
Staff were walking around talking on their mobile phones, talking to each other and again looking bored. In fact, they only jolly ones were the Housekeeping Staff you would meet in the corridors!
The room we had was small and nothing special. The towels looked and felt old and the robes too. The windows were dirty too.
The food was nice in Yindeees restaurant, but again there is no friendly atmosphere there. The staff were a little nicer in La Perla but there is no atmosphere in there due to it's vast size. We were served hard patatoes here and when i asked our waiter about 2 of the desserts he didnt know what they were (one question was what flavour was the ice cream!) His phone was ringing in his pocket as he served us and he ran off to answer it!
All in all, the vibe here is terrible. I think they were just concentrating on the Weddings they had booked in during our stay and forgetting about the rest of the guests. I would definately not recommend a stay here - especially at the 5 Star prices they are charging!

We booked 2 rooms on the House side of the property. It was a terrific value for a stay in an old manor. Although the room decor fell just a bit short, we cannot complain for the price we paid. We would absolutely recommend it and stay there again. We ate dinner in town and the staff was extremely helpful with the booking.

Managed to get a great recession special couple of nights away in the Lyrath. 2nights B&B plus 2 dinners for €180 per person - not bad and we got to eat in different restaurants each night. This of course is midweek but we did not mind this at all - couple of days off work was what we were looking for anyway.

Arrived early enough at the Lyrath around 12.30 and we could see that it was very busy with check outs etc so we said that we did not need a room right away as we were heading out for the day and we just would store our luggage and be on our way.

Arrived back at 4pm and reception just needed to check our room was ready and then we were off. We stayed on the 4th floor - it says its the Executive level (although i never booked it) but there was nothing really Executive about it - not that it would have effected us really as we did not use the lounge (which had 1 desk table about 10 chairs and a flat screen) Room was lovely - big and bright, decor very easy on the eye with nice earthy colours, huge window - which was great as in the morning it nearly felt like you were outside. Bathroom big and clean with a BRILLIANT shower.

We started off going to Tubbers bar - ordered a bottle of wine. The service in here is very hit and miss and to be honest more miss than hit. Its like they really dont want to be there and are not overly friendly. We experieced this sort of welcome on both times we graced the place.

Ate in Yindees restaurant on the first night. Have to say i thought this was lovely, waiting staff very efficient (sometimes too much so - they brought the coffee before the ice-cream - not good for those with sensitive teeth) Food portions were very big and presented beautifully and very very tasty food. Went away from there full and impressed.

When we got back to our room a turn down service had been provided along with slippers by our bed and chocolate on our pillow. Bottled water had also been left on the side table for us, this was a lovely and this is something a lot of other hotels are missing now a days so nice to see it being done.

Breakfast in the morning - well my husband being a big big fan of the Buffet thought all his Christmas's had come at once - it was great - so much varity you did not know where to start. They have the breakfast service finely tuned and it seems to run like clockwork.

Dinner the next night in La Perla - its and Italian restaurant - although the menu was not very Italian. Food was good and service was great.

Ok so all in all the hotel is lovely - not quite 5 star but would give it a 4.

The Spa is incredibly over priced - i had a hot stone massage - it was lovely and very relaxing but very expensive - hot stone massge rate around €120.00 and facials from €110 - up to €140.00 -= in these times thats steep. But holidays are for treating yourself so thats what i did.

The Lyrath sit on 170 acres of land - wasted land - they have done absolutely nothing with it - we went looking for walks etc and found nothing - they could do with utilising this space - golf course springs to mind when you have this sort of acreage.

There is a great internet room which is free of charge - nicely decorated and very fast internet.

Another disappointment to this hotel is that it mainly used the new wing - however my husband and i went discovering the place on the first night and found the old wing which is open for use - but no one is using it - beautiful sunny bright morning rooms etc - this would be great for reading and afternoon tea but they did not seem to be used at all - such a shame and this are is not exactly advertised - when it really is the most charming part of the building and shows the history of it.

Now we dont have any children but did have a look to see what is provided for them - just out of interest - they are very well catered for here - they have a snooker room - a computer / games console room - games all provided by the hotel and they have a little cinema room - this is such a great thing for those who have older children you can leave there and go and enjoy a nice meal together and not have to worry about them. They have a pool and horse-riding near by.

I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and would probably stay here again, if i got a good deal. I would not pay the normal high summer weekend price as after staying here i dont think it is value for money - keep a look out for their specials though as they are worth it.

Myself and my husband left our children in Dublin for a relaxing anniversary break. We were greeted by Tom the doorman on arrival which made a lovely first impression however our room was not available until 4p.m- giving us less than 24hrs of child-free bliss. We booked a slightly more expensive executive room which was very nice.....but I think I expected a bit more of a wow factor. Unfortunately I was really let down by the "leisure centre"- I expected hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, decent size pool etc etc but what we got would barely befit a 3* Maldron hotel. The Oasis Spa has good facilities- if you pay an extra 30 euro! (charge not applicable if having a spa treatment) but to be honest, I gave it a miss. We ate in the hotels Yindees thai restaurant and had a most enjoyable meal then finished in the adjoining bar where I had the best Mojito ever! The buffet style breakfast the following morning was to a very high standard with highly efficient staff easily dealing with the typically Irish 10.30a.m breakfast stampede. Overall we enjoyed our stay but for a bit more pampering and better leisure facilities in the future i'll be checking out somewhere like the Monart instead
