We stayed here for a relaxing weekend break and were really pleased, overall. Reception was friendly, quick and efficient. The porter/doorman was a very helpful gent who seemed interested in us having the best time possible. We had spa treatments and were really impressed with the quality of the treatments. Usually, these spas have staff who do little more than rub oil on you! These treatments were the business! Well trained therapists who knew how to give a good strong massage. My wife is a massage therapist and we have an interest in treatments so this is an area that we are sometimes dissappointed in. We had no dissappointments here!
Two small cribs: First, the showers were not working in the spa on Sunday morning but we were warned in advance and an alternative shower area was offered. A bit messy, but these things happen and they handled it well. Second, there were no hair dryers in the changing rooms on the health club/ swimming pool area. When we asked for one, we were told they do not supply any. For a 5-star facility, this was not good.
The food was excellent. From the shacks in Tuppers Bar to La Perla, everything was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. On two days, the hotel was catering for large wedding groups but this did not impact on our enjoyment or service.

Really enjoyed our stay. 9 of us in total and we had a blast! The lady who sang in the lounge upstairs brought a lovely ambiance to the evening after what was a tasty meal. The staff were brilliant and made us feel right at home even though we just stayed a single night. Definitely worth a revisit.

We stayed here for a weekend over a special occassion. We ate in their asian restaurant on both nights as I found their menu in the other european restaurant was very limited. It was really nice and tasty. There was a great buzz about the place. Very relaxing. The hotel is spotless and is a credit to you, we stayed in a superior suite and i could not fault it. There was a separate shower and bath. They remembered everything.. even an umbrella. Thankfully we didnt need it as the weather was fab over the entire weekend. The only let down was the spa thermal suite, we viewed to see what we were going to pay for.. viewed it and definitley not worth the money I am afraid..sorry. No vava voom.. in my opinion.Other than that. Can't wait to return. Well Done Lyrath keep up the work. Fab hotel.

This hotel is a nice treat. The room very confortable and you get good sleep. The breakfast was really nice a good variety and quality. The restaurant was really nice too. The price was good for the hotel. The only reason I do not give it a 5 start is because to use the spa sauna, steam room and other bits you need to have a treatment of more than certain amount. I would think that if you are a resident in the hotel you should have access to them. I know there are leisure facilities in the hotel but the steaming room and jacussi are not up to the hotel stardard in my opinion.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September. It really is a lovely place to stay with very good amenities. The rooms are spacious and clean. The head waiter really looked after us at breakfast both mornings and our food was just lovely. My only complaint would be that we had to get a taxi everywhere as the hotel is very secluded. For us, the hotel should offer complimentary transport to Kilkenny for hotel guests a couple of times a day or more. Convenience is so important while on holidays.

Stayed for 2 nights on an Irish Times deal, it was excellent value for money. It was hard to get a wknd date when we booked but we managed. Because of the deal we got an upgrade to an executive room on the 4th floor. The room was lovely, bright and clean with all mod cons. No wear and tear here. The bathroom was the highlight, lovely bath and shower. Bathrobes looked like brand new. Wine and chocolates awaited us in the room, this was very nice.

Its a very big and busy hotel with weddings on both days we stayed. However, this didnt affect us at all and the staff were all friendly and professional despite being busy. We ate in Tuppers bar on our first night and this was excellent. The decor is gorgeous throughout the hotel, very modern except for the old part of the house. Dinner in La Perla was included in our deal and this was of a very high standard, the chocolate desert in particular was divine. Cocktails in the X bar were very good, though the mocktails were a little overpriced at €7.50. The live music was a nice touch. Breakfast is very busy but it is really good and lots of choice on the buffet. You can also order from a menu and I would recommend the healthy choice omelette, yummy. We were lucky to get a window seat both mornings and this was lovely looking out at the very well kept gardens. Being 9 months pregnant I didnt avail of the spa or leisure facilities but Im sure they are lovely.

Overall, I would definitely recommend a stay in the Lyrath. Its a short drive to Kilkenny city which has to be one of the nicest in Ireland. We would love to return.

Stayed here for just one night on our way back to Dublin. Typical resort with a lot of amenities. Grounds are beautiful. In spite of the lead picture of the entrance on the hotel's website, this is a contemporary resort/conference center. We stayed in an Executive Room which I would highly recommend. This room was probably built in the last 10 years. Very spacious. Walk in double shower with good views. Quiet, clean. Staff was quite accommodating. The high end restaurant (can't remember name) was pleasant but once again, given the contemporary nature of the resort, somewhat bereft of any character. Good news about restaurant was that the food was very good and the tables were well spaced offering privacy.

Big indoor pool and nice exercise room.

Would recommend highly, just don't expect any old world charm.
