“Fantastic wedding venue”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

We held our wedding reception in June 2012 in the Lyrath Estate Hotel. This is a fantastic venue and has the benefit of being an old house for a drinks reception and more modern conference centre for the main reception. The old house has been beautifully restored. The main reception room was built as a conference centre - so with some touches in terms of draping the room and bringing the mobile bar into the main reception room, we were really delighted with it.

The drinks and canapes reception in the old house was really class. In terms of the canapes that we had upon arrival, these were delicious - the mini burgers went down a treat with my friends. Also, we bought in our own champagne (of which the corkage was steep) and was a really wonderful reception for our guests. The service staff were magnificent and indeed all our guests commented that the drinks were regularly topped up.

Our wedding reception meal was absolutely fantastic. We did a starter choice of which one was scallops and it was truly impressive that the hotel could provide such top class cooking to such a large number of people. The quality of the ingredients used is excellent and the fillet steak was so tender. Also portion size is excellent - this is not food decorating a plate but good sized portions. What was truly impressive re dinner is the service - it was also so quickly turned around course after course!

For the night time we did the thai buffet which is prepared by the chefs from the Thai restaurant, Yindees in the hotel. This food was amazing and freshly cooked at the reception based on each individual guest request with guests receiving their own thai freshly cooked food.

You get the jist.......the food here is absolutely excellent and worth every penny. As I said before corkage is expensive for the wine and champagne that we bought in.

In terms of service, all the staff that we met and engaged with through the whole planning of the wedding were fantastic, really helpful and professional and at all times we were confident in their ability to deliver. The events team (Dervla & Gillian) work with you and document everything right up to the big day and are so responsive in terms of reverting on questions/queries/changes etc and really organised. The banqueting managers and staff including Ian and Devon who looked after us so well on the day are brilliant. There is no skimping on staff here and lots of waiting staff for drinks and food.

Overall we had a fantastic day..............the venue, staff, food was truly wonderful. Our guests really enjoyed the wedding and were so impressed with the hotel itself, the food and the service. One minor point - it would have been nice if the lawn just outside the conservatory had been mowed as it was a little long after all the rain earlier in the week.

Well done to all the team in the Lyrath!! Thank you for making our wedding day so special - fond memories for a lifetime.

My Wife and I stayed at the Lyrath and what a lovely experience from arrival lovely staff we were upgraded to a beautiful room with balcony. Service and Food was superb, and enjoyed a swim in the excellent leisure facilities. We stayed for three nights on a B & B board with one evening meal. It was truly best value for money in a superb Hotel. I would highly recommend it for couples and families as all tastes are well catered for in a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: When booking include at least one evening meal as its better value then taking a chance on just walk...

We stayed on a Friday night for 1 night and took our 2 year old with us. Really nice hotel that blends in the old original part of the manor with and the new. Check in was painless, room we had was spacious and very clean. Had lunch in the bar when we arrived and food was also was very good. With a 2 year old you're always wondering if there's enough to keep them entertained and I have to say that there's certainly enough to keep everyone entertained. (Swimming pool with small kids section, cinema room with a selection of movies & a walled garden with play area as well as plenty of walkways around the hotel to stroll around). Would also advise taking a short trip to Nore Valley Camping park which also has an open farm (10-15 mins drive away). It rained quite heavily on Friday but the Farm was a perfect way to spend an hour indoors seeing, playing, feeding the animals. If visiting Kilkenny I would certainly consider Lyrath Hotel. It also had a wedding on the Friday night and we didn't even notice which was also a bonus. Finally, I can't leave a review without commenting on the staff. All very attentive, friendly and very professional. Wouldn't mind going back again but perhaps without the 2 year old next time.

This was a return trip for my husband and I and we were not disappointed , from the moment we checked in the staff were a pleasure , we were lucky enough to stay in a luxury suite which I must say is fabulous , great big bath and a fab shower , room turndown is a must , fresh towels and bed re made with a sweet on the pillows and bottle of water .
Both restaurants are good and breakfast was also very good.
We did enjoy the terminal suite with hydrotherapy pool but did not have a spa treatment this time .
10 out of 10 for cleanliness ,staff and room 211 !
Also thanks to all on reception top class service girls !

We will be making a return trip hopefully soon !

Room Tip: Room 211 is the room that has it all , well worth the extra money

We recently held our wedding reception at the Lyrath Estate Hotel and it was a spectacular experience, if your are looking for something a little different and special I would highly recommend this hotel!!! The hotel is enchanting and has so much charm. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us to make our day special. The majority of our wedding guests stayed at the hotel on our wedding night and each and everyone of them could not praise the hotel enough. The wedding banquet suite oozed sophistication and charm, it is located some distance from the main hotel which we loved as it felt like we had our own private space for the day. The food as always was exquisite and delicious.Over the duration of planning our special day we along with family members have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and the standard never dropped. From the bridal party and to a guest we have always been treated like royalty at this hotel. The rooms are so comfortable, spacious and clean. We are looking forward to a return visit with our families in the very near future. This hotel will not disappoint!!!

Had a very enjoyable stay in Lyrath. The hotel is lovely, we ate in both restaurants and had afternoon tea in the conservatory. The grounds are very nice if you are interested in a short walk.
Found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The Spa was good - although have been to better.
