Just got back from Ireland and spent 1 night in Butler House (wish it could have been more). First, Kilkenny is a busy town as compared to others we visited. Parking is difficult and it can get loud. That said, Butler House is up on the hill a few blocks away from the fray. There is ample parking in the rear in a lot. If you get a room facing the gardens you will not hear any of the hustle and bustle. If you are facing the street you may here some noise. Our room was large, modern, clean and quiet with an incredible view of the gardens and castle. We had our window cracked and I listened to the ivy on the building rustling all night long. The bathroom was HUGE and the tub / shower was amazing! We also had a triple for parents and daughter. It was a massive room with 2 beds and a sitting room. We were loaned a cork screw and dinner reservations were made for us. The castle is 1 block away and all of the craft fair shopping is literally in the back yard...potters, silversmiths, linen, and knitwear...right there. Great restaurants and pubs are in walking distance. There were other renovations occurring while we were there. Breakfast was made to order and was wonderful. Butler House is worth the splurge!
