There's no way I can adequately praise or thank Yvonne for her kindness and attention to our every need during our two-day stay in Kilkenny. The first night there, I slipped and fell down the steps in Butter Slip and badly sprained my ankle. She saw me limping back to our room on my husband's arm and showed up immediately with a bag of frozen peas. From that point on, she couldn't do enough for us. The power in the entire county went out that evening, and she had candles and wine for every guest who needed or wanted them. I wasn't able to make it out for dinner, so she brought us plates from her house and set up the outside picnic table for us. She sets the bar enormously high for any other B&B owner in Ireland, and as much as we enjoyed many of the other places we stayed, Yvonne won the "best in Ireland" award from us without hesitation. You may find other establishments you'll like as well, but you'll never match the hospitality you'll receive from Yvonne and John. We'll definitely go back to Kilkenny at some point ... and we wouldn't consider staying anywhere but Butler Court.

Manhattan, KS Home of the "Little Apple"
My husband and I had the good fortune of staying at Butler Court on the first two nights of our Ireland trip. We were stressed and exhausted from our drive from Dublin when we arrived at B. C. Yvonne and John took care of us immediately with Tender Loving Care. We took a nap, awoke refreshed, and took Yvonne and John's recommendation for dinner. They also recommended two Pubs with traditional Irish music, and it was the "best" we heard during our 12 day Ireland stay. We enjoyed wine before dinner in the inviting courtyard, were able to access our e-mail, and were taken care of by Yvonne and John. Butler Court is a clean, very modern, and inviting guesthouse right in the heart of Kilkenny. It is within walking distance of all the best shopping, restaurants, and pubs. We plan to return to Kilkenny and will again stay at Butler Court.

Butler Court is a very nice B&B, with a comfortable room with TV, and ok private bathroom (small but very clean). The breakfast is continental and inside the room, a "make it yourself" option, but it is good quality food, including fruit and a selection of cereals, tea and coffee. The location is very good to visit Kilkenny, the people in the B&B are very nice and always really to help, with maps and a list of recommended pubs and restaurants. If you are travelling by car, there is no private parking and you have to leave your car on the street, which is safe but can be hard to find a place close by.

My family just spent two nights at the Butler Court and I cannot say enough about Yvonne's hospitality and her wonderful accommodations. We found the rooms comfortable, the courtyard was charming, and Yvonne made us so welcome. The self-serve coffee, scones and juice in the room was a nice change from the "full Irish breakfast." There was some street noise one night that came in thru the open windows but, of course, that is often the case in Ireland where few places have AC. It was really the most pleasant accommodation of our trip.

We began our 10-day trip to Ireland with a two-night stay at Butler Court. We wish we could have stayed longer. We selected Butler Court based on these reviews and they were "spot on." Yvonne was an incredible hostess and made us feel welcome from the moment we set foot in their charming little B&B. She works extremely hard and it shows. Clean rooms. Great local tips. Perfect continental breakfast. No request is ignored. She and John have set the bar very high and no other place we visited during our vacation matched their passion for their guests.

Our family of four stayed one night in early July. It is well-located, easy walking distance from castle, town centre and good restaurants. The rooms are moderate size but very modern, spotflessly clean and beautifully-designed. All details are thought of ... I especially liked the complimentary bedroom slippers provided! The bathrooms are smaller but very clean with new fixtures and lots of hot water. On the down side, all of the rooms are situated on either side of a long narrow courtyard so that if you are unlucky enough to have neighbors who are loud late into the night, then you will be kept awake. This is probably more of a problem in the summer because you want to keep your windows open. I mentioned to Yvonne that we had encountered this problem. She apologized genuinely and profusely, then disappeared into a back room to return with a beautiful Irish pottery mug as a little gift to make up for our inconvenience. The cleanliness, attention to detail and hospitality more than made up for the inconsiderate guests.

Butler Court is an excellent choice to visit Kilkenny, Ireland. It is very well located, just a couple of blocks from downtown and the Castle, and has excellent amenities. Yvonne, the owner with her husband John, was an incredibly helpful host. She helped us with restaurant and travel suggestions, and even had a "list" of young adult preferred pubs and night spots (we were travelling with our 18 and 21 year old children). The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms had upgraded bathrooms with excellent showers. It was the nicest place we stayed in Ireland (much of the reason due to Yvonne and John- but we were pleased with the room and the Continental breakfast in the room as well). I cannot recommend it highly enough!
