Prior to our visit we had only heard of Hurling in passing but had never tried our hand at it. I was so impressed with how the Kilkenny Way made hurling accessible and fun. By the end of our time we were all laughing and attempting to win a shoot out.
The entire experience was fun, entertaining and educational. We finished our day at Lanigans bar in downtown Kilkenny and loved it!

My fiance and I did this during our time in Kilkenny. Coming from Australia we did not know anything about hurling. This was a fantastic time. We learned a lot about the sport and developed some basic skills in the game. We had such a wonderful time and our coach was so friendly and an a great coach! We were so excited when we were able to hit the ball a decent distance! We would both HIGHLY recommend doing this when in and around Kilkenny. Money well spent. Also, the lunch provided afterwards was delicious. Don;t miss this experience!

Very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.. and different from the usual touristy tours. A bit of history, then good bit of running around hitting a ball with a stick followed by a hearty Irish Stew! Good value!

Found this online before we left for our trip and knew this would be fun and educational for all four of us (hubby and I and our 2 kids ages 14 and 12). It did not disappoint. Met Richie downstairs at Lanigans. Tour was just the four of us, which was awesome. Went upstairs to the Legends Bar and learned about the legends in hurling, and had some photos with the Liam McCarthy cup - the 4 handled shiny silver cup which goes to the winners of the All Ireland Hurling Champions each year. Kilkenny was the current champions when we were there and has won several years (8 I think, in the last 10 yrs.) This year - its between Cork and Clare. Don't know how this will affect the "experience" if you can't see the cup as that was a huge highlight. Anyway, we toured Nowlan Park and saw the locker rooms and learned about how the athletes train. Its amazing to think this is all amateur - no one is paid to play, it's all for pride. Many athletes are teachers so they have the summers off to play. Humbling compared to the greedy athletes in the US, where its all about the money. Went to their training field to learn how to play. What great fun! My 12 yr old was the most natural at it. Good exercise and fun. We had a good amount of time to practice our new hurling skills before heading back to Lanigans for an awesome bowl of traditional Irish lamb stew. Yum. Richie was very enthusiastic throughout, which made it a great experience.

The Kilkenny way
Great way to get a true Irish experience. Our coach was friendly and funny and had great knowledge and passion for the sport. We had a blast even though it was raining. If you are in Kilkenny, and you should go there, I highly recommend this unique experience. The food and friends at Lannigns are great as well which is included in the bargin!.
