Went to Lanigan's last night and it was great. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our Guiness was perfect and we discovered hurling. The bartender took the time to explain the sport and showed us around the place. We will be back next time we are in town!

My wife and I decamped in Kilkenny recently for my 40th birthday and our first stop was Lanigan's.
We didn't really know what to expect and we were quiet happy with our experience.
The baramid/owner? was very nice and pleasant to us on our arrival and we were seated by the window beside the tv screen (football on tv so I was happy at least).
We ordered soup and a sharing platter for 2 which was very nice and well portioned.
There is a fairly extensive menu which is very reasonably priced.
Lanigan's is the kind of place that offers decent food at a great price.

“Felt like one of the family and really good food!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

We spent two days in Kilkenny sightseeing and shopping and ended up at Lanigan's twice. Very good traditional food-- best we had on the whole 10 day trip around Ireland. Bacon and cabbage, fish and chips were wonderful. Second time we went in Richard, one of the owners, came out from behind the bar to greet us. Lovely warmth in the dreary November weather. We'd love to go back for high season and see the place hopping with traditional dancers. Can only imagine that it would be fun and friendly!
