“Bring your earplugs...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2012

This was our second stay at Langton's, and it was not as good as the last, but still fairly satisfying. As before, the staff were very nice at reception and in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant is only ok - standard pub type dishes, though the chef does not skimp on servings. It was a Saturday night, and the restaurant was extremely busy, mainly with large groups. This meant that it was really noisy, and the atmosphere was not very relaxing. Our bedroom was really nice, although there was too much furniture, and the room felt a bit cluttered even though it was actually spacious. Breakfast was good; the service was quick, and the dishes cooked to order.
The major issue in the hotel on a Saturday night is the noise: the nightclub music, and the outpouring of chattering people onto the main street afterwards. Knowing this, we brought earplugs, and were very glad we did! Apparently, the hotel is thinking of supplying these in rooms, and they really need to...

This June we had our wedding at Langton House Hotel with 110 of our friends and family flying in from the U.S. From the moment we stepped into Langton's 2 years prior to plan, to the days following the event, the staff went above and beyond to provide ourselves and our guests with the utmost service. We did not hear a complaint from one of our guests - we booked out the entire hotel for three nights! The rooms were all stylishly appointed, the food was exceptional and the staff made us feel like family - right at home. Highly recommend Langton's for dinner, a vacations stay, a casual meet-up with friends at the bar (especially Bridie's Bar), the atmosphere (the decor of each and every room is impeccable), and especially a wedding. They helped us to arrange things from NYC to a tee! Many thanks to all the staff. We'll be back again one day!

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper, you might prefer the garden rooms.

Langton House Hotel is right in the middle of Kilkenny City. We booked 2 single rooms for a very reasonable price. I'm not sure if they didn't have any proper single rooms but we ended up in 2 lovely twin bedded rooms with a sofa, tv, tea and coffee, mini bar, very decent sized bathroom and wifi. Lovely and clean. These people really know how to treat customers. They could not have been more helpful. And the breakfast - really extensive menu. We had sirloin steak with eggs - it was cooked exactly as we had asked and loads of extra coffee.

Room Tip: Ask where the wifi reception is good. It was quite poor in my room.

Just spent a midweek break at the Langton house hotel, overall a good stay in a very characteristic hotel. On arrival at 2pm we were advised our room was not ready and we would be phoned, however that call never came and so we waited until 5pm when we came back it was clear the room was ready a long time but no phone call. The room itself was very nice just behind the courtyard. I was worried about the Noise as we weere advised the night club would be on that night but it was fine we weren't affected even sleeping with the window open!
We had a meal included in our stay, we booked the meal for 8pm but were asked to wait when we arrived. The food was average, the presentation was poor and I got the impression the inclusive deal diners were not equal. I asked for veg with my meal which never arrived.
After our meal we went for a drink in the front bar, we ordered a liqueur and a pint however the bar man was very rude to another bar man about not changing the barrel, he never explained what was happening to us instead walking away shouting at the other bar man we were left with one drink and no bar man!
That night we returned at 12 pm but after ringing the doorbell several times there was no answer from
The night porter, we instead took the long route round by the carpark which is not very safe! I said it to the receptionist the next day and the next evening the door was answered after 2 rings...

Overall the hotel is very nice but I found the service lacking and not service of a 4 star hotel. I would stay again but would lower my expectations and not bother with the food.

I stayed here on 3rd of July and it was not up to standard. The room was clean but looked out onto half a wall and a dirty smoking area. We had been told there was a disco on when booking the room but i told the girl we wouldnt be going and she said it wouldnt be too late anyway. We were put in a room directly next to the disco and the noise was horrendous. we could hear peoples conversations the walls were that thin! I rang to reception and asked when it was over but the man that answered said it was his first night and he didnt know. I asked him for earplugs but he told me he didnt know what they were?!! in my opinion if he didnt know he should have offered to find out and call me back.
At the dinner which was included in the price the host gave us a menu and sat us at a table. she then came back over to tell us she didnt realise we wer an "all-in", took our menu off us and gave us a cheap 1page printed menu. Food was nice tho.
Breakfast was a sham, we got up at 9.45 and there was nothing left on the side board, no fruit or no pastries and we got one glass of oj each. To top it off when i turned my teacup there was a squashed fly inbetween it and the saucer!
I wasnt asked when checking out did i enjoy my stay but i did tell the girl at reception the noise was awful and ruined our trip. She apologised but never offered to get a manager or anything.
I am only giving this place two stars because the food was nice and the location was good.

I'm writing this on a plane so no access to the Internet, so can't remember what the other reviews were like, but if I recall correctly I think Langton House Hotel was at about number 4.

This isn't a fair rating - it should be number 1, without a doubt.

Gorgeous unique rooms - modern and comfortable but classic. Very comfortable beds with free in-room wifi and tv etc. Our room was on the roadside and above the bar but still nice and quiet.

Then theres the restaurants and bars - I think about 4 or 5 different venues each with  an individual theme. Very cool.
We ate at the restaurant after looking around the other options in Kilkenny deciding it looked the best. And it was - absolutely amazing food at good prices, you have to try the brown bread ice cream dish. Unforgettable.

And then theres the included breakfast. Delicious continental buffet with pastries and all the rest, and we also had the option of a cooked brekkie - could choose from the usual full Irish or French toast/ pancakes etc - again just great food.

So the verdict - definitely among some of the nicest accommodation in Ireland, and at 99 euro (for a Tuesday night) just outstanding value.

I was pleasantly surprised! Langton's is a clean, elegant, beautifully designed hotel that catered to my needs perfectly. On a Sunday night it was slightly quite but not dead. The rooms were delightful, we stayed in one of the garden suites, they are designed stunningly with classic furniture in a spacious room with a lovely view. The room was airy and delightful. The beds were perfect and the bathroom was very big and spotless. We were treated like royalty the whole time! The meal in the restaurant was exquisite, along with the breakfast. The reception staff were fantastic too as our rooms were not ready when we arrived but we were escorted to the bar and provided with a complimentary drink while we waited. Perfect location considering the nightclub is in the building. Perfect for a group of young people or couples. But a family couldn't complain either with the outside grounds and conservatory there was room for children to relax too. Excellent location! PERFECT!

Room Tip: Garden suites and restaurant... AMAZING!
