My boyfriend and I were just walking through town when we found this cathedral. At first we were just going to take some photos, but someone told us to go up in the tower as it was actually open. We are so glad we did. I don't remember the exact cost, but it wasn't very much. The cathedral is beautiful inside. The tower is 7 flights of ladders to get up - Make sure you don't have to carry anything up there!! The views are just breathtaking!!! You can see all of Kilkenny and the countryside around it. I recommend this to anyone!

Such a beautiful cathedral, right in the heart of Kilkenny . The staff were so friendly and on the grounds there is a lovely cafe. Well worth a visit.

St. Canice's Cathedral is a beautiful church in the middle of Kilkenny. It is an easy walk right down the main road, and easy to find. The church costs a few euros to tour, but you get a full map and information on what you see. The tombs, stained glass, and expanse of the church - all are beautiful and so historic.

The Round Tower is one of only 2 Round Towers you can climb in Ireland. It only costs 2 Euros, and you get a great view of the city from the top. Be warned - if you are in ANY way claustrophobic, do not climb it. It is a tall, round tower with minimal light! However, my brother and husband thought it was just great. It was a cool experience, to be sure!

While the grounds are neat to see and the building is impressive, there are much more impressive churches throughout Ireland to visit. This was a cool stop and it is well worth doing if you're in Kilkenny, but I would not go out of my way to see it.

Saw the church - so what you might ask? Well, the church was featured in Inter cert history book re the tombs, if anyone is old enough to remember.

We had plenty of time to wander around the catherdal and then climbed the round tower. Now this is an experience worth undergoing. the actual experience of climbing the ladders could remind you of the monks of old having to climb to save their lives and once you get to the top, the view is absolutely superb.

If you are to do anything in Kilkenny, then visit and climb the tower!!!
