lovely old building - but no access to the inside on day we went sightseeing which was a shame - would like to have seen inside too.

“Old Jail and Courtcase”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Definitely worth a look around ...this building has a fantastic history and takes you back in time with it's atmosphere that you'll be glad you were never incarcerated in it. A must to see.

“Not much to see”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

If you enter at the front, from Parliament St (on a day the court is sitting), you can have a look at Irish justice in action. If you enter from the side (St. John’s Bridge) you can see the wall of the old jail house. While some of the old cells still exist, the funds have run out to make them visitor accessible. There was no exhibition in place at the time, so our visit lasted about 10 minutes. The one staff member we met was great and explained a bit of the history of the place. There was no entry fee. If it is hosting an exhibition, or if the old cells are restored, the place will be worth a visit, but there’s not much point until then.

“Nice facade and full of history.”

Nice little spot if you want to take a few good photographs. Recently renovated and looks the better for it. If you go on court day's look inside.
