“Best of 8 B&B's where we stayed throughout Ireland”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

Val was a gracious and excellent hostess with terrific suggestions for our travels. We were only able to stay one night but would loved to have stayed longer considering the quality of the accommodations and the pleasant conversation. The B&B is within a short walk from downtown Kilkenny, where we at dinner at one of Val's Pub suggestions (excellent). The breakfast was wonderful.

Room Tip: We chose the triple room(for 2 persons....Blue Room) which was in the rear of the home and had no st...

Thank you for your very kind remarks about your sojourn here just a few weeks ago.
It is most fulfilling for us when visitors show a real interest in our lovely historical city. Indeed it is a labour of love to inform people of the various buildings, pubs, restaurants and musical venues in Kilkenny not to mention the various festivals which are held during the year.
We would also like to thank all those other people who have taken the time and trouble to post their kind words about Dunromin on Tripadvisor.

We stayed with Val and Tom once before in 2010, and boy did we enjoy it! So as you can imagine we were hoping for a similar experience this time, and I can truthfully say it was as good if not better! The friendly conversation, the beautiful rooms, spectacular breakfast (if your lucky a little breakfast music- wink, wink), and plenty of helpful advice, are all great reasons for staying at Dunromin while visiting Kilkenny. The location is great, a short walk to town gives you an opportunity to see close up the well maintained architecture as well as the natural beauty that surrounds this awesome city. They have always been ready with advice on what to see and how to get there, and even made a phone call to see if they might be able to pull some strings and get us in to a sold out tour. Talk about going above and beyond! Staying at Dunromin will be the best decision you make while visiting Kilkenny. ENJOY!

Tom and Val are the best hosts you could ask for. They are so helpful and friendly, offering tips and insights that we couldn't have known. They treat you like family that has come from far away for a visit. We truely appreciated their their help and enjoyed their home. I feel like we left friends when we left there. The only downside was, they raised the bar very high and no other hosts quite met it. Thanks for making us feel welcome.

Our hostess Val greeted us at the door of her lovely home, and that was the beginning of an exceptional visit. Val's home is so lovely, I made photographs to bring home so I could show others what a lovely place we got to visit. Val obviously has a taste for decorating; her home is very inviting. The gardens are just as spectacular; flowers and plants are strategically placed to so that they may be viewed from inside the house as well as from the outside. We had a large party of seven, one unannounced since our daughter was able to take 96 hours of leave from her duty station in another country to join us. We were all accommodated perfectly. We enjoyed coffee and a chat with Val shortly after our arrival, and she shared her opinions and expertise about all that is Kilkenny, which we, as first time visitors, really appreciated. Because of her help, we had a lovely dinner in town and saw a bit of the town in the process. Breakfast was an event in and of itself! We met a lovely lady from Germany and a couple from France at our table. Those are things that don't often happen in an impersonal hotel. If you go to Kilkenny and wish to be treated royally, stop by the Dunronin B&B! You will not be disappointed.

It was really kind of you to take the time and trouble to express your feelings on your recent visit here. We were delighted to see that you got the right result in that football match in the Aviva stadium.
Your comments regarding the decor, flowers etc are so kind and uplifting. It really helps to keep one going on those days when you might be feeling below par!
Sincere thanks again and best wishes to you all.

Val and Tom are really the best. The best, most considerate hosts. The most keen proponents of Irish culture, heritage and tourism. The kindest people you would ever wish to meet.

And the room and breakfast were excellent too. Thanks for all the great memories of Ireland.

This B&B is located just outside the charming town of Kilkenny. It's a little walk down to the town, and we were glad to be in this quiet location and not in the middle of all the hen party atmosphere that pervaded Kilkenny on the weekend. The town is great to visit, with lots to do, good restaurants, and an interesting castle, tower to climb and scenic views. The B&B has free parking and makes it easy to take day trips. Val is happy to give great advice on where to go and what to see.

Very comfortable home right outside Kilkenny which is a perfect Irish town to visit for great music and food. The host Val and Tom were most welcoming and felt almost like family. We truly enjoyed our entertainment in the morning with Tom, his drums and our sing along. The breakfast was in the true traditional manner. I would definitely recommend

My wife & I found Tom & Val's B&B. Unfortunately, our daughter and her 2 children got lost in Kilkenney. Upon our arrival, Tom said hop in my car and we will go & find them. Find them he did! Our 1 night stay was marvelous, the best in our 15 day's in Ireland. Hospitality, location, (easy walk to town), super clean, lovely rooms and a delicious Breakfast, all were excellant!! Our only regret is we didn't stay multiple nights. Val & Tom are extremely wellcoming, attentive and truly gracious hosts...Thank You - Val & Tom.

Jim & Anne
ps: They do have a Beautifu Garden Area.
