Description: Welcome to Lautrecs Bistro in the heart of medieval Kilkenny City. We are a stones throw from the historic Kilkenny Castle on bustling St Kieran Street, a pedestrianized haven for both food lovers and shoppers alike. Showcasing modern Irish food on our menus, we cook everything fresh to order with produce from local artisan food producers Flagstone floors from the historic Burren in Co. Clare with relaxing soft tones set the enchanting atmosphere that is Lautrecs. On two floors Lautrecs was launched in 1987 and is one of Kilkenny's longest established restaurants. Please browse our menus where we hope you will find our food interesting... Bon Appétit!

We chose this place as it looked to have a good atmosphere and it had reasonable TA reviews. We weren't disappointed. We shared a couple of tapas (prawns and squid) and then a pizza which were all very good. We had a carafe of the house red (Montepulciano) which was extremely good quality wine, particularly for the price. The service was good, staff were very friendly and attentive, and the overall price was great. Should we return the beautiful Kilkenny, I would happy dine here again.

This restaurant was recommended by a Kilkenny native and it was worth a visit. Great selection of tapas, even though a couple of things on the menu were not available on the night. We ordered two tapas each and there was five of us, so there was lots of dishes to taste and swap around. Desserts were very good. The guy waiting on our table wasn't overly friendly and if he had been chattier we may have stayed longer and had more wine ..... maybe he did us a favour!

Just back from this restaurant, went for the early bird menu which consisted of 3 Tapas dishes and a glass of house wine for €20 per person. I will start with the positives - nice location and ambience, spicy lamb meatballs and trout pate were fab, the patatas bravas were also nice as was the glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
And to the negatives, the sweet chili chicken & the Brie croquette were like something that had been cooked earlier in the day and reheated. The last dish ordered was a pecan salad, this represented the poorest value dish that I have ever seen. Considering this dish normally costs about €5, it consisted of a quarter of an apple sliced on a couple of lettuce leaves with pecans and walnuts (if this dish cost anymore than 50 cent to put together I would be flabbergasted).

I went to Lautrecs with a friend and just couldn't wait to go back, so went again a few days later! And I've been recommending it ever since !!
3 Tapas and a glass of wine for €20, bargain! Plenty in each dish so you won't be hungry after!
I Highly recommend the shredded duck, Parma Brie sticks & bruschetta but to be honest I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu! Great atmosphere, lovely staff and yummy food & wine ! Can't wait to go back !!!
