Description: Welcome to Lautrecs Bistro in the heart of medieval Kilkenny City. We are a stones throw from the historic Kilkenny Castle on bustling St Kieran Street, a pedestrianized haven for both food lovers and shoppers alike. Showcasing modern Irish food on our menus, we cook everything fresh to order with produce from local artisan food producers Flagstone floors from the historic Burren in Co. Clare with relaxing soft tones set the enchanting atmosphere that is Lautrecs. On two floors Lautrecs was launched in 1987 and is one of Kilkenny's longest established restaurants. Please browse our menus where we hope you will find our food interesting... Bon Appétit!

I couldnt recommend this place highly enough after a recent visit to Kilkenny. Truly amazing food with a real continental syyle atmosphere that would remind me of wine bar days in southern France. Staff so friendly and were into having the chat with us and were truly generous with their time and positive advice on the local attractions.
Seriously folks, a visit to this place is a must and only negative is that there are not enough tapas places of this quality in our other major towns and cities.

After enjoying one of the Springsteen concerts in Kilkenny in late July this year myself and some friends found this beautiful liitle tapas bar in the centre of town.
We were lucky to get a table as the place was jammed however we were treated like kings despite the busy night they were having. We shared a number of tapas dishes and a pizza or two, all delicious and served with a smile.
On a recent business trip to KK I convinced my colleagues to dine here and even on a quieter Monday night the experience, both food and atmosphere remained top-notch.

Have dined here many times before so was appalled at how much it has deteriorated. Sat at our table @ 8:30pm and it was 10pm before some of our tapas arrived (they were cold & tasted awful). Was left waiting ages for my wine because they had no clean wine glasses (?!?!?!). Wasn't just us, tables around us were receiving same service. The manager & staff didn't seem to care and were blaming their issues on a large group booking (have they heard of preparation?). I was absolutely shocked. By 10pm we had enough. We complained to manager and left. Then took ourselves to a far nicer tapas bar close by. Disappointing experience for us as we were out to celebrating a milestone birthday. Will not be dining there ever again.

While strolling through Kilkenny we noticed Lautrecs and liked the look of their menu. We returned later on Saturday night and we were seated upstairs, as downstairs was pretty busy.

The staff were very helpful and although the food was a small bit slow coming out, it was a nice atmosphere so we didn't mind.

We tried 6 different dishes, based on the recommendation for 3 dishes per person on the menu, and they were all lovely.

I would highly recommend visiting Lautrecs for a relaxing evening for couples or larger groups.
