“Great spot for a pint and food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

Went in with the family for a (sort of, about 8:30) late bite to eat. I was worried that bringing the kids in might be a problem but not at all. The host at the door brought us in and sorted out a table for us where the kids were out of the way but we could hear the music. The food was usual pub grub but was very good. Pints good, music good, all good. Would recommend as a family friendly place to eat in Kilkenny city.

“Ancient Inn with a mysterious past”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

We discovered and lunched at a quintessential medieval pub and restaurant on Kieran Street. We read about the strange past of its original owner, and enjoyed the ancient décor and ambiance.
The food and drinks were great, as well as the service.

“Great entertainment”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

We came for dinner and the had Irish dancers and live musicians.
I would agree the food was good pub food. The extra dancers and live musicians made it an experience.

“Average food, okay music and show”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2014 via mobile

Went here on the recommendation of the owner of the B&B we stayed at. It had average food but the music and story telling were pretty good. It was clearly a performance not a traditional adhoc gathering of musicians in a pub. My only complaint was with the other patrons at the bar. Their talking and noise was drowning out the music and stories. I had the Irish stew which lacked flavor though it did have a cute shamrock puff pastry on top. The decor is pretty cool especially the lowest level which dates to the 1260's. And they have Kilkenny Cream Ale on tap.
