Had a really interesting visit to Dunmore cave. A family ticket costs 8 euro and is great value. The tour consists of a short audio visual, visitor centre display and tour of the cave. Our guide Emma was excellent and told the history of the cave in a very child friendly way thrilling all with tales of murdering Vikings. The children loved the moments when the lights were turned off and the cave was plunged in to total darkness. The centre has a very nice café with views over the surrounding countryside. I would highly recommend a visit to Dunmore cave.

Had a nice time here and had a great guide. The only drawback was the size of the tour. Very interesting after the disappointment of Kilkenny castle. A very entertaining afternoon and a must see for visitors to Kilkenny. Go on cheer them up.... They're still moaning about their hurling teams performance this year!

Visited Dunmore caves after finding a leaflet on drives from Kilkenny.

The reasonably well signposted attraction was easy to find with ample parking and excellent on-site facilities including cafe.

On entrance, a warm welcome and the admission was very reasonable at €3 per adult. After watching an informative video on rock structures and the cave history, we much expected to be shown a wet hole in the ground with an information sign like many other similarly priced attractions. When a tour guide turned up with a torch, we were a little surprised, but what a good surprise it was.
After descending a flight of steps through the caves mouth, our tour guide, John, gave an excellent and informative talk at all stages throughout the below-ground setting.
Taking us through the separate "rooms" of the cavern, there was much to learn about geology, local geography, history and even nature in regard to bats and shrimps! A guide that was suitable for most ages depending on mobility as there are 706 steps in total on the tour.
One of the many great things about the tour was we never felt rushed, able to take photographs, and ask further questions. The tour lasts about 45 mins but we were there at least an hour.

This attraction should not be missed, and is such great value!

We were on a touring holiday and found Dunmore Cave whilst heading to the Wicklow Mountains. The first surprise was that the visit was complimentary on the day! The second surprise was how stunning the cave is! Our tour guide, Michael, was very informative and made the visit come alive with his stories of Vikings and his own personal experiences from when he was a boy. The third surprise was Mchael playing a haunting tune on his pennywhistle! We would definitely recommend a visit.
