I had never heard of Dunmore cave prior to visiting it just a few Sundays ago.It was breath-taking and the descent down into the mine was longer and steeper than I had imagined it would be.It was fascinating and the lady guide was very pleasant and informative. It really was avery reasonable and pleasant attraction.

This is one of the smaller caves I have been to but it has impressive sights (just not as much walking in small corridors). Lasted about 45 mins. There are some impressive sights and the commentary was good. Just about kept my 6 year old and 12 year old entertained. It was amazing value at 7 euros for the 4 of us. If you are near then it is worth a go, especially given the cost.

The history of this cave is worth the stop. Inexpensive admission. Please note you are entering a cave and wear appropriate shoes and take a jacket (waterproof). There are a lot of stairs to go down and up. We had to take a breather on the way back up.

Did not appreciate the guide bad mouthing where we were staying. Disagreed with him on that point.

There is an informative movie about the caves shown before the tour. The guide then explains interesting aspects of the history. The caves themselves are very impressive and hardly need commentary to be appreciated. The guide added a lot to the experience with his in dept knowledge and enthusiasm, not to mention allowing us to really know what it is like to be in total darkness.
There are interesting exhibits and a cafe at the entrance.

A horrifying story of how women and children ran into this dark hole, how they got down in the dark shows me how desperate they must have been..... only skeletons remained to show their existence. Aside from that the cave is amazing, full of different shapes and colors, huge boulders, huge rocks seeming to just hang as if weightless, sparkly bits if the weather is right and maybe a bat or two depending on the time of year. Treasure trove of all sorts, bringing the history to light for all of us to see. I wonder how many other treasure troves lie beneath the surface ?
The tour was well organised and the guide was full of interesting information, if only the coffee shop had been open on time I would have said full marks ( just a small thing, but still I was desperate for one )
