“Picturesque, but room for improvement”

A lot of work has gone into rennovation of the museum and there's a cafe on site for those who want to stop and have a drink. The introduction video is interesting but does repeat much of the information in the emigration display.
Inside of the windmill could be improved if there was more information and displays for people to read, and learn what each floor of the mill was used for.
When i visited a hawk had taken residence in the windmill, all be it temporarily... but keep your head down if its there otherwise you'll feel the air movement as it flies from one side of the mill to the other.

To see and touch the massive timber inside Blennerville Windmill and to see the top of the windmill rotate with the wind was wonderful.

To get in you pay €5 per Adult. It is a self guided tour that starts with a video that lasts about 6-7 minutes. After you go to a room which is an example of a traditional Irish kitchen. You can read about soda bread - how it was made, where, there are also pictures. On the 1st. floor you can read about the famine era, emigration,... Then you go outside to the Windmill (through a courtyard). You can climb up to the top floor. You can see how the mill works. It was interesting and informative. We spent there about 40 minutes.

One negative thing: My boyfriend has hay fever and is allergic to loads of stuff so after leaving the windmill his eyes were itchy and red (you can feel the air in the windmill - is full of grain powder, dust or whatever that is) so bear that in mind.

I was positively surprised by the price and content. Expected only a windmill and you get a bit of everything

Its a quick tour of the history and lighthouse for a reasonable price. There are also a few other craft shops in the same area and a small cafe to grab a cup of tea.
