“So glad we popped in for lunch”
Reviewed May 23, 2014

We were passing The Earl of Desmond today so we popped in for lunch. Its been few years since we went in and we were delighted by the changes to it, it looks fabulous. We went into the Desmond Bar and had a really enjoyable lunch at very reasonable prices, The staff were all locals and very attentive and friendly. It was the calm before the storm as they were waiting for wedding guests and tourist coaches to come in and the arrangement looked wonderful. I was wishing I was one of the guests and staying there . We will return again soon. Well worth a visit,

I recently attended a friend's wedding in the Earl of Desmond and we were blown away by the standard of service we recieved. The hotel has been renovated since I last visited( years ago) and the interior is stunning. The reception room is gorgous and the over all feeling of the hotel is very welcoming. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of everything. I know the wedding party were very happy with the price they paid as the food was 5star and everyone Ive met since have said how impressed they were with the Earl of Desmond so I would have no hesitations in recommending the Earl of Desmond as a wedding venue.

Just come back from a coach tour of Dingle and Ring of Kerry with GB Tours and stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. We arrived after a long day travelling about 10pm and were provided with a 3 course evening meal by smiling staff, what a wonderful start. Keys for room were available immediately after meal no queuing at all. We had a lovely room on the ground floor overlooking the main Tralee road no noise at all. Rooms were extremely comfortable plenty of room had to request more coat hangars only 4 provided, bathroom was large and towels changed every day plenty of hot water also.TV also had plenty of channels if you wanted it including sky.The gardens around the hotel provided a nice little stroll if you want one. The food over the 4 days was excellent with plenty of choice. There was entertainment every night from an Irish band of brothers who provided traditional irish songs to other singers who provided other music with backing tapes, all very good. The hotel was extremely busy as there was a dance competition on for 3 days and there were other coach parties in there, the staff coped with it all with a smile and nothing too much trouble, would definitely recommend this hotel. Please be aware drinks are expensive and the Guiness is not as good as in other establishments.

Room Tip: All rooms are big and lower rooms were as good as any

Well our first visit to Ireland and stayed at the Earl of Desmond hotel. Food was excellent National coach tours certainly choose well. Full breakfast as much as you can eat and the sausages were to die for Hmm weight shows just that. Choices of starters mains and sweets delivered to table hot and well presented. staff couldn't help more and the rooms comfortable clean and roomy. There is a garden area with a path down to the river that is a lovely short walk. Entertainment was good too so all in all an excellent experience of the Irish hospitality.

Room Tip: we were on the ground floor and rooms apparently on both sides of the corridor were nice we did have...

Visited here for a 5 day National Holidays trip. Left Middlesbrough at 6.05 am and arrived at 8.45 pm, but staff were waiting to serve us with 3 course meal, told to just leave luggage in reception. The staff were very cheerful, friendly and efficient and food very good especially the full Irish breakfast each morning and there was even a waitress preparing toast on the 2 machines, no waiting about. Although you could make your own tea/coffee, the staff also came around the tables with pots of tea/coffee. Great room, clean and in good order with tea/coffee facility. Evening entertainment in the lounge bar and one evening treated to a local troupe of young musicians/singers/dancers. Very enjoyable stay and highly recommend a stay here.
