We wished we had stayed longer. The accomodations were very comfortable, the staff was very kind, and the food was incredible. The castle has everything you need on grounds; a pub, a reading room, a full restaurant, and beautiful grounds to walk.

This was just what we were looking for and was an amazing place to stay. The architecture was gorgeous and the grounds impeccable. And oh the sweet dogs!! You definitely feel you've been transported to a bygone era as others have said. The installations and decor were very luxurious and appropriate without feeling too stuffy. Unfortunately the staff makes up for the lack of stuffiness of the castle itself. They were not friendly and very uptight... Perhaps they are playing a role but the 5 course dinner which was pretty good would have been a lot better if the waiter had relaxed a bit and just all around a smile or two would have gone a long way. But in the end if you are looking for a castle to stay - this is the place! Absolutely gorgeous... Oh and great breakfasts!! (this seems to be the rule in Ireland though in general!)

As avid visitors of 'Blue Book' venues and castles and period houses all around the country from BellinterHouse to DurrowCastle to Ballynahinch Caslte to Adare Manor, Ballyseede is right up there. From the moment we arrived we got that sense of comfortable luxury and authenticity, where everything about it exudes an ease with the world. We decided to dine in the formal dining room rather than the bar and we were deilghted with our decision. Again, the room is warm and inviting, mirroring the staff's attitude. It came as no surprise that the restaurant is the recipient of culinery awards, well deserved, the food was wonderful.
Already looking forward to a return visit.
If I have one criticism it is that on requesting the possibility of an upgrade which we always do wherever we go, we were told that it was indeed possible but at an additional charge of €30. In contrast, when we recently stayed at the Dunraven Arms - wonderful, top of our list - when we enquired about an upgrade we were very pleasently greeted with the news that they had already upgraded us. It is those type of gestures that really stay with you.

Myself and a friend were just going to go to the bar for lunch. We went in and asked the bar man who was working if we could order just 2 bowls of soup and a pot of coffee? and his answer was short and sweet. ' we are busy at the moment so if you want to take a seat and when it quietens down come back and ask again'

Now there was another table of 3 people having a drink in the bar at the same time. We were talking to someone who said that there was a small wedding happening but when we were arriving they were only leaving for the church....

So we sat for 20 mins and waited and no one came near us. There was 2 managers walking around and didnt seem to care whether we were okay or not. So after 25 mins we decided we would just leave it and walkled out. Instead opting for a lovely friendly lunch across the road at ballyseede gardens!!!!

We stayed at Ballyseede Castle for 2 nights in October. This place has its own magic and we felt as if we were transported to a bygone age. The grounds, the architecture inside and out and the luxurious furnishings were all superb and reminiscent of those we had seen in renovated castles throughout Ireland. Our room on the top floor was a good size with a beautiful, comfortable bed and a fabulous view. The castle is filled with art work, magnificent furniture and two rather cute knights in shining armour, complete with shorts! We ate in the bar both nights rather than the restaurant, and the food was beautiful - the best lamb shanks we have eaten in a long time. (So nice to be able to eat there for a reasonable price than to have to get back in the car after many hours of driving and drive into town to find a meal.) We were also entertained in the bar by Einstein, a dog with a clever party trick he loves to show off. Both he and Higgins (the other dog) made the place homely. Staff were friendly and helpful and special mention must be made of Esther with her recommendations for sightseeing. If we ever get back to Tralee, we would have no hesitation in staying here again.

This is a must place to stay on your trip to Ireland! From the moment you drive up and see the beautiful castle, the minature ponies and the fabulous grounds. To your greeting from Einstein and Higgins, you are treated with such care!! Our room was amazing! We ate 'bar food' and had drinks in the bar which was like sitting with an extended family, Einstein was in there as well! The day we left, Esther noticed we didn't eat breakfast so she gave us toast/jam and coffee before we left! Will definitely return!

My husband and i attended a family wedding in Ballyseede castle. We had a wonderful time . From the moment we entered the hotel we were met with warm hospitality. We had a very large room with an extremely comfortable bed. The meal served at wedding was of a very high standard. Breakfast next morning was freshly prepared and delicious. Staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. All in all a joyous occasion
