“Stay well away”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

Im a regular customer and to be fair up to this visit i found this restaurant very good however on valentines night one of the few nights of the year that couples go out i found the meal as a whole to be a load of rubbish. Main course was tasteless. Had ran out of chips and replaced them with undercooked potatoes covered in a garlic oil. Dessert was a disgrace icecream was four small tea spoons of the cheapest ice cream you could fine, best described as balls of ice. The tiramisu was very poor in fact it was not tiramisu at all, no alcohol just a sponge cake covered in honey. The best part of the meal was the glass of wine and diet coke. Rip off and will not be going back. The worsed meal i have had out in a long time.

“would be very good except for the veg and salad”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

went here recently for an evening meal. Place is very nice. lovely ambiance and atmosphere. Service very prompt and efficent. Main course of chicken was very very nice, presented excellently and tasted beautiful but the accompanying veg was awful. straight from the freezer bag i would say and totally ruined the meal.
Other half had salmon which was also very very nice, presented excellently and tasted beautiful also but the accompanying salad was she said very poor. Desert of Tiramasu was good but not great and bottle of house wine was nice.
gents toilet could do with a spruce up while restaurant itself looked very well.
So overall average. great location and venue. Excellent staff and service. But accompaniments to main courses really left the place down with a bang. Il Pomo D'oro should be able to do better for prices charged but worth a visit to see for yourself.

“Good authentic Italian food with friendly service”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Had a great meal here recently on a wild and windy wet January night. A friendly welcome from the Italian waitress who settled me next to the heater. Unasked she brought a jug of water and the newspaper. The menu has a good selection of Italian specialities. The minestrone was excellent and the carbonara that follows was top class.

“Little gem!”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

We were getting dinner in Tralee and came across this little place. We got the early bird menu prices at €14.50. This was for a starter, main and a tea/coffee or else a choice to add a glass of wine for an extra €2.50. All I can say is WOW! I was really impressed. The food was so fresh and refreshing. We got the Italian sausage and Caprese salad for starters. They were both so good. I order caprese salad a lot while I am away and this was by far the nicest and most fresh I have had. For mains we had the chicken and I had the salmon spaggetti, this was in a white wine sauce with sun dried tomatoes and I wanted to force myself to finish the plate it was so nice! The place had a really nice atmosphere and there were people coming and going to eat which was really nice to see. We were so impressed with this place that we will without a doubt be back very soon!
