Crystal Springs Bed and Breakfast

We stayed in the room overlooking the river. The room was large, comfortable and elegantly furnished. Luxurious bathrooms for an Irish B&B. 5 minutes drive from the center of town and the park. The hostess was warm and helpful. If you are visiting Killarney stay here!

Room Tip: Get the room overlooking the river with the 4 poster bed.

When checking in, Eileen the hostess will offer you a tea or coffee. Then she will give you a map of the region with hand-written comments and recommendations.
You have several options for breakfast, we tried three of them (we stayed for three days) - all of them were delicious.
The rooms are all individual, we stayed in "The Stable".
You can walk to the city center of Killarney, but it takes about half an hour. You should have your own (or a rental) car when staying here.

Having had friends stay here on more than one occasion & recommend it, we were keen to stay here on a recent visit to Ireland. A retired friend who has more time than us booked over the phone as he does not use or have a computer. The place is very clean & tidy if a little cluttered & 'blingy' but that is just personal taste. Our room was pleasant with a very comfortable king size bed but there were various stickers around the room asking us to do/not do this & that including 'no bags on the bed'. Never seen that before! Also it was chilly weather & the bathroom heater wouldn't work. Our friend had a room mentioned by another reviewer that had only a velux & his clothes/luggage had to be kept in the bathroom. We were also irritated by having to order breakfast the night before as tastes can & do change overnight. The breakfasts were OK but with hard fried eggs on occasions not great. There was constant 'elevator' music playing on quite a short loop that was very irritating, too loud & frankly unnecessary.

The town map & restaurant listing in the room was way out of date with many of the restaurants closed down.

The biggest issue, however, was when we came to check out, as stated before the rooms were booked over the phone , months before without the use of the internet. However the price we were charged was higher than verbally quoted & when questioned all the (somewhat insincere) Eileen was just shrug & say he had got the winter rates from the internet as opposed to the correct summer rate. When we pointed out that the booking was over the phone & no internet was involved she was not interested insisting again the rate was from the internet & would not deviate from the price. Only after we had paid & mentioned again the disappointment over the cost did she weakly offer to refund the difference. Too late, by then we were cross & just wanted to leave. Also due to lack of cash we were paying by card which, as has been mentioned before, was subjected to a hefty 3% surcharge & the cards were taken away out of sight for some considerable time which was a worry.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us , You'll find that the majority of our reviews are positive .As we strive continuously to keep all our guests happy during their stay with us .
in reply ,While I never spoke with yourself on booking
The room rates I quoted to your retired friend last March for ( 1 Double and 1 Single room) 3 people to stay in May were 40 euros per person 2 sharing a Double and a Single Occupancy room - 58 for one person,
(not 40 as you demanded )
His miss understanding was on the single occupancy rate that differs from p,p. sharing ,
Signage in rooms are in the interest of health and safety and hygiene, Breakfast menu includes 12 different choices and can be ordered either in the morning or evening before ,
( just saves time ) Background music is always on very popular demand ,sorry if that irritated you too,as did your hard egg "yes that egg could be devastating" !! ,sorry,
A restaurant in town closed down this year ,but I am not responsible for that ,( 100's more to choose from )
The town map I gave you on arrival , I made especially for your food and budget requirements as requested ,
Sorry I wasn't able to help with your personal issues ,
On check-out the price didn't change , the Single room was still 58 that was quoted in March , as you said yourself lack of cash led to one credit card that I was presented with having difficulties getting autheratizion which took a considerable time to resolve ,
( secutity and safety of guests Credit card details are our top priority) otherwise insinuating comments are unfair as we are professional people,
We charge a reasonable rate for Room and Breakfast ,
Your teas , coffee and cake were all complimentary ,
Banking and other financial services are not included if you choose to use their services ,

My wife and I had an excellent stay here in May. The room was spotless and very elegant. The breakfasts were excellent and the location very nice and quiet with a scenic river in the back. Eileen was a wonderful hostess who excels at attention to detail. We will definitely come back and recommend Crystal Springs in Killarney to anyone.

We had a wonderful time at the Crystal Springs Bed & Breakfast. We stayed in August of 2011 for our honeymoon. Only spent a couple nights in Killarney, as we were traveling all around Ireland, but had a great stay! Loved the B&B...perfect location, within walking distance to city centre. Loved the river that the B&B was located on. Great setting! We were able to come and go as we pleased. Also loved the resident dog greeter!

We spent two nights in this b&b located 5 minutes by car from the center of killarney. The room was nice and well decorated. No problems with the beds! The breakfast was good too.

Drawbacks :
the wifi didn't work properly in our room.
The room is quite noisy because not properly isolated and smells of food
The shower is bad, the water pressure is far too low...

Despite these faults I recommand this b&b!
