“Lovely place next to Killarney national park”
Reviewed October 16, 2010

We locked for a nice place near the national park and the ring of Kerry where we had the possibility of horse riding. Muckross was perfect for us, just a short drive from Killarney but still far enough from the busy and touristic city center.

At our arrival we had a warm welcome, even had the chance to accompany our host to the stables. The accommodation was clean, quite big and offered a beautiful view over the field in front of the house, where rabbits, sheep and donkeys have been kept. (Maybe you get the chance to stroke one of the rabbits). The place invites for a short walk in the evening and one will sleep very well after a long day, just what we had expected from a stay in a farm house.

We will definitely stay at Muckross riding stables on our next trip to Ireland, it’s a great B&B.

My husband and I recently traveled Ireland and stayed at many Hotels and B
and Bs. Our most memorable and favorite place by far was Muckross Riding Stables.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the setting is amazing. We regret that we found this beautiful place towards the end of our trip, but we will return.

We stayed for five days basing ourselves in Mucross Rding Stables B&B as we toured around Killarney and Kerry. A picturesque idyll setting for adults and young children alike. The O'Donovan family have recently set up a pet farm on the roaming fields around their guesthouse so the children are kept busy with the puppies, rabbits, goats while you can enjoy a glass of wine on the patio overlooking the peaceful scenery! The area is on a private winding driveway which means it is perfectly safe for the children to roam free as it is not on the main road. In saying that it is only a 10 minute drive to the centre of Killarney and 5 minutes to Muckross House and Gardens which is in Killarney National Park.
We had a spacious family room and the choice of breakfast was hotel worthy...highly recommend the full Irish!
Maureen and Paudie were very polite and pleasant, having no problem answering our frequent requests and queries.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definately be back in the future.

Hi. My husband and I stayed at this bed and breakfast in Aug 2010. We had a wonderful stay. The house is set in the most beautiful location surrounded by forest. We went horse riding through the National park from the on site stable which was a very unique experience for us. The room was clean and comfortable and in the morning we had a great hot breakfast which my husband still talks about ! Overall we really enjoyed our trip.

1. They overbook. Your order value nothing.
2. The owner rude and insulted us and take no resbonsibility.
3. We ordered 3 month in advance to muckross stables despite the remarks in the web that they overbook. When we arrived as ordered she told us there is no place because bla bla bla. With no regret or shame she told us "I made a mistake, what can I do. I hope you don’t make mistakes" (incredible isn’t it?).
4. She gave us a name of a farm that have family rooms. We went there to find they have no family room and that every now and then people come to her after they were rejected by the muckross stables with the same story.
Please they don’t deserve your credit.

My daughter and I stayed the night. It was wonderful to watch the horses and sheep grazing in the pastureland. We got to watch the sheepdog work and hold the sheep while some were sheared by hand clippers. We enjoyed it a lot, only drawback for me was not having a TV in the room.

Stayed here for two nights. Booked last minute and choose this accomadation as most others in the town were fully booked. Lovely drive down to the properrty. Close to the Muckross park Hotel. I booked a single room and thats what i got. No ensuite but tolilet just outside room. I did not mind this as room was adequate for 2 nights and was clean and modern. Only downside was the bathroom was downstairs and it did not have a proper shower.
Breakfast was good.
I would stay here again but would choose one of the ensuite rooms.
