This hotel is in heart of Killarney. The service was excellent and staff were cheerful and courteous.. We were up graded to a Junior suite for 10 euro each and it was really worth it.. The ensuite was to die for and the room was huge, with a seperate sitting room with sofa and tv at far end.. Only complaint i had was the sky light almost over the bed. No blind on it and daylight came very early and we were awake at 4.30 with the brightness.. Breakfast was a bit mad as the dining room was to small to cater for the crowd... But overall i enjoyed my stay and would definately recommend it.

Room Tip: worth upgrade to junior suite

We stopped here overnight before a walking trip on the hills, arriving off the Dublin train. It is just a five minute walk from the station, so was very convenient. The room was spacious, service was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast choices were excellent.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Fairview in 2011 and vowed to return to Killarney for a long stay. Our original intent was to let a holiday home, but when we compared cost, beauty, comfort and convenience/location and gracious Irish hospitality against a private home we decided to book our stay at The Fairview. Let me say that I am a demanding traveler when it comes to quality. The Fairview has it all. We booked an executive suite at a price cheaper than most run of the mill hotels in the US. It was huge by any standard, particularly European. So too was the bath. Gigantic with a jacuzzi and separate walk in shower. Breakfast was full, delicious, and to order quickly from a menu of choices along with continental standards. The decor is very high end and a lovely fusion of old world charm with very contemporary finishings, lighting etc. We were in a perfect location to get around without a car. The hotel is a block from a taxi park and only several blocks from the train and bus services. We used this transportation to take day trips out of Killarney. Also a short 5 min walk to the tourist info center where we booked shuttle rides 2.60€ into the Killarney National Park. The park is free with minor charges for some sites and services. And you are in walking distance to a major park entrance right in town. We booked coach tours through James and the bus picked us up at the door. Taxis took my husband to golf. The staff are exceedingly courteous, friendly and helpful. If you decide to stay here begin by booking directly with James, the owner and communicate your needs then, and at any time during your stay. Most importantly the walls are not paper thin, the window curtains were more than adequate, the bedding comfortable etc. No hotel can control loud and inconsiderate neighbors, unless they are informed, so get the night number and call. In our entire stay we slept like babies, no noise or light. Thank you James, Anne, Tommy, Bernie, Les, Bart, and housekeeping for a month of memories to last a lifetime. You should be #1 in Killarney....Ireland for that matter.

Our trip. Mon - Tues. 2nd and 3rd June, 2014
8 People in our group. 5 adults and 3 teens (even the 11 year old).

We arrived late (11:30pm) after ringing Anne Marie on reception, who could not have been more helpful, and offered us a reasonably priced upgrade of our rooms.and advising us to drive safely. When we arrived Anne Marie met us with a wonderful warm smile which made us feel very much at ease and at home.

All our rooms (3) were very spacious with double and single bed, spotlessly clean and luxurious. bathrooms were just perfect, with powerful showers and with (jacussi in 2 of the 3).

Lift to the floors. beautiful residents lounge. Restaurant combines to become residents bar in evening after dinner.

Breakfast: Full Irish breakfast was my favourite, with a huge choice of fruits, cereals, yogurts, juices and the service from staff was excellent, Tommy and Bernie notably,
and any request for more tea coffee etc was met with a genuine no problem attitude and a warm smile.

You get the very warm feeling that nothing will be too much bother for all the staff we met with.

This hotel is very central with a two minute walk to the main street and is truly the "Jewel in the Kingdom" of Killarney and Kerry.

We enjoyed our very brief, one night stay at the Fairview in Killarney. We were offered a room upgrade once we checked in. The room itself was very nice and the hotel is in a great location. It was, however, a bit noisy as we were there on the Friday night before the weekend car rally - we heard car engines revving very late into the night while we were trying to sleep before an early morning flight to Dublin. I will also agree that the walls between rooms are very thin - our neighbors were a bit on the noisy side.

Lovely place to stay but be careful if you book online with kids as we had to pay €50 extra per night on top of what we had paid online. Expensive stay and misleading website. Once we got over the price, we enjoyed our stay.

Dear Trevjoknox,

Thank you for your review.
It was a delight to accommodate you.
However as expressed to you at check-in you booked a double room and you had a copy of a double room reservation. However at check-in there was four people there - which was a different a room type to that you booked. The children were charged 50% discount.

We had 3 nights in the fairview and found it to be very good. Our room was large and very clean. The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and choice at breakfast was also very good. Only one problem was a very noisy guest in the next to us who had to be told to keep quiet, this might have something to do with the thin walls mentioned by another reviewer.
