Owner description: The traditional application of falconry has been to take a Bird of Prey, train it and then attempt to catch wild quarry with it. Although our guided walks with hawks experience, is not a hunting expedition, it is a leisurely stroll through the majestic settings of Killarney with falconer and hawk/or team of hawks and shows the ability of trained birds and their relationship with their human partners. The participants will have hands on experience with the hawks, you will be able to handle and fly the hawk yourselves under instruction from killarney falconry's falconers. We finish up with an owl encounter where you can handle & hold an owl. Private Hawk Walk Duration 1hr approx One Participant 70euro Two Participants 100euro Three Participants 130euro Family Package (2adults/2kidsU14)120euro Extra Participants/Spectators €30each, Times between 10am to 3.30pm Daily Weather permitting activity. A great experience for us and grandkids... just us, our son, and Jeff, the handler. A leisurely walk in the woods with a lot of information provided along with "hands-on" experence with Alfie. Loved every minute and well worth the cost. Jeff was passionate about his birds and provided more informnation that I anticipated. Small goup (like a family) is the best... provides more interaction.

our two year old loved this and we didn't expect him to, our five year old was a bit apprehensive, our guide was very informed, relaxed and accomodating. He brought along an owl for our five year old to see and we had Alfie the Harris Hawk with us on the walk which lasted about an hour. We ourselves enjoyed it as an unusual and different holiday activity - probably would have gotten more enjoyment if our boys were a bit older.

We met our guides Jeff and John at the walking site. In spite of the weather, they agreed to meet me and my husband only. You can tell both men are passionate about falconry and shared their enthusiasm. We learned quite a bit. We were able to "catch" the falcons as well as "cast" them many times. Great personal, friendly experience!

My husband and I booked a hawk walk during our fall trip to Ireland. We meet them at Dunloe hotel in Killarney. The hawks were magnificent to see up close. They provide gloves so you can catch a hawk as he swoops down from the trees in the park. Make sure to bring your camera to take lots of photos. The guides were wonderful and provided a lot of information about the hawks and other birds of prey. You walk through the grounds of the park (a beautiful forrest) catching and launching the hawks. It was definitely the highlight of our trip.
