A really nice hostel where I felt really at home with so many nice people, always! It's been so hard to leave this place! in cumulate I've spent like 2 weeks in the 12 beds room and I had a good sleep, in a clean bed, and a clean bathroom! There was a good ambiance but always respectful for the sleep of others. I think all this positives points are in large part due to Louise, the receptionnist, who works really hard for the hostel and to make everybody happy, she is a really nice and generous person!
The other postive part of this hostel: it's in Killarney! Where I really have a good time, with beautyfull landscapes, so much to do! with mountains, forests, lakes, and the national Killarney Park... Amazing! the best is to visit all of this with other travellers of the hostel, and have a good time! Plus there is always things to do during the night, with a lot of good pubs, with great Irish music...
And last but not least, the price is really interesting!

For sure... I WILL COME BACK!

Room Tip: Bedrooms are just what you need for what there is to do in Killarney! After a hard Hike, or even a g...

I really felt like being at home. The people are so nice and friendly and trry to help in every situation. I travelled alone but found lot of friends here. Especially Louis, the staff of the hostel is great!
Even if the rooms are not so nice the beds are comfortable, cheap and clean. The bathrooms, kitchens and floors are cleaned every day.
The hostel is located very central (2min from the National Park, 2min from the main road) and there are a lot of things to do. Even on raining days. There is a computer free to use for everyone, a Tv room with lot of films to watch and the kitchen, where always somebody is to talk or play cards with.
I had a wonderful time here in Paddys Palace and I can really recommend it.

Stayed as part of a paddywagon tour. Our room was on the ground floor. There didn't really seem to be any security at the main doors, only locked at night and very basic locks on the room doors. Our room didn't have a power socket so there was a powerboard in our room that was plugged in in the hallway. We had an ensuite which was a bit hard to get in and out of as the door basically opened up onto the beds next to it. Our bunk beds were in their own little corner near the bathroom but there was no light in the socket above - so we had to have the bathroom light on with the door open to really see anything!
Overall it was good. Beds were clean and comfy. Kitchen was a little small but we were only there for 10 minutes so it was ok. Wi-fi worked in our rooms. Pretty quiet surroundings at night. Close to everything in town.

i booked for 2 nights twin room and i must say the price was really good we paid 15 euro each per night with continental breakfast.
If you are booking for 2 night you can have a free tour organized by Paddy wagon.
the room was basic and clean with bathroom ensuite.
The receptionist was really kind and she was waiting for us because we had a check in at 11 pm.
the position of this hostel is really central so if you want to go out at night is really good location.
For the price we paid we could not ask more.
Reccomended!

For any traveller who has been around a bit, Paddy's is fine, no major issues, don't be put off by the grumblies. This place really is a palace compared to some places in other countries. Your stuff probably won't be stolen, your bed will be clean, everyone is nice, so relax and enjoy it. It has its shortcomings, but nothing that should ruin your trip. It's quite clean and reasonably new looking. I think its fair to paint a reasonable picture so you know what to expect, so here's the story in detail, from a seasoned traveller:

Location: Paddy's is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station, not to hard to find, located on the corner of a pretty busy street (New street) with lots of pubs and eateries as well as a couple of grocery stores. All in all, a good location, lots of stuff in walking distance.

Rooms: We stayed in a 12 bed dorm, room 1. The beds are standard hostel beds with linen provided, comfy and no issues here. The room was clean, there is a lack of power points (plugs/outlets) in the room which could become annoying to coordinate charging phones and laptops.

It should be noted that room 1 is at street level and also alongside the walkway entry, reception is on the first floor up stairs, as is the bathroom for room 1. This room can be quite noisy at night with people walking by on the street and cars passing by. Also, after 9, the front door is locked, so in order to enter you must ring the doorbell, which can be clearly heard in room 1, as well as the people strolling in, often talking loudly, until the 4am curfew. So if you are a light sleeper, this is not the best room. It would be nicer if the doorbell only rung quietly at reception, and people knew to be quiet when strolling in. (but its hard to think of these things when drunk heh). In the photos you can see the "emergency door" avoid these beds as they are the noisiest and you hear everything when people come in the entry way.

Facilities: The kitchen is a nice open plan, combined with reception (see photo), breakfast provided which is a nice plus. It can get a little hectic with limited seating but its clean and you have everything you need.

WiFi is sporadic, which can be kind of annoying but its not the end of the world.

The toilets are clean, the only drawback here is the curtain doesn't cover the window fully, but with a good hot shower you can steam them up nicely. Lots of hot water here, sometimes almost too hot.

the common room is quite small but seems to be little used (who wants to sit around here with so much to do) 2 lounge chairs, a couch and a flat screen TV are sufficient.

Security: well, I think in Killarney you have not too much to be concerned about, which is why things are pretty relaxed here. There are small lockers available in the common room to store valuables, or else bags can be kept at reception. the usual precautions apply, especially in room 1, with locking windows and doors, as people could stroll in, although this never seemed to be an issue.

In summary, you get what you pay for, but here, for 8 Euros a night, you get a little bit extra, which makes the shortcomings that much more tolerable. It's worth the stay and I would recommend it to my friends.

Room Tip: Avoid room 1 (12 bed dorm) if you are a light sleeper

I really enjoyed my weekend stay at Paddy's Palace. It's in a good location and very close to local Killarney attractions including Muckross House in the national park and Torc waterfall. The rooms were cheap and clean and the included free breakfast was delicious! Very helpful staff as well.

Room Tip: The private rooms with their own bathroom are a good deal!
