“should be 5star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

Stayed for two nights and it was exceptional! We were to stay one night but it was so relaxing we stayed an extra night. Have been to Killarney many many times and this is the gem of all the bed and breakfasts. If it's comfort your looking for combined with peace and quiet, cleanliness, excellent food and that little extra special personal touch then look no further. It is within easy walking distance of Ross Castle and if you keep a watchful eye you will see deer in the woods along the road!

Great location, a short walk from ross castle. Warm and very helpful hosts. We had a spacious, well equipped and very clean room. It'sa very quiet location and we slept very well (an woke up with a cock-a-doodle-doo). We spent two nights and got plenty of good advice what do do and what to see.
Very nice breakfasts with a good view on their beautiful garden.

From the second we entered Ross Castle Lodge we felt at home. Denis and Rosaleen were the perfect hosts welcoming us with tea and fresh baked scones. We were shown to our room (no.3) which was spacious and relaxing. Bed was extremely comfortable and made for a great nights sleep. Everything was spotless in the house (room accommodation and communal areas). Delicious variety of breakfasts to choose from - spoilt for choice! Rosaleen takes great pride and pleasure in looking after her guests and couldn't do enough for us. They were very knowledgeable about places to visit in the area. Ross Castle Lodge is perfectly positioned for a quiet relaxing stay in an area that feels as though you are staying in the countryside but within 25 minute walk to town with lots of shops, restaurants and pubs in one direction and in the other a 15 minute walk to Lake Leanne and Ross Castle. We stayed for 5 nights before travelling to Galway for a further 4 nights. However, after the first night we wish we had stayed at Ross Castle Lodge as we didn't like the B&B! On the second day I rang Rosaleen to ask if she had a room vacant for us to return and luckily for us she did. We packed up our stuff the next morning and drove back to Killarney and to what now felt like home - to Ross Castle Lodge where Rosaleen welcomed us back with open arms. If you visit Killarney DO NOT hesitate to stay here - you won't regret it! Rosaleen and Denis should be awarded an extra star rating for their hospitality to make it 5 star accommodation! Thank you both for making our holiday unforgettable. We will definitely stay with you again if we revisit Killarney.

Room Tip: Room 3 is great as it's at the end of the corridor on the ground floor so no guests walking past...

Rosaleen and Denis make you extremely welcome and are a mine of useful local information. We had a misunderstanding in the number of rooms which we had booked and they had reserved for us. As the mistake was primarily ours, we tried to pay at least part of the second reservation (staying three days) which they refused. We insisted. On our third day prior to our departure, Rosaleen refunded the extra we had paid.
Plenty of parking and nice and quiet yet close to all the many attractions.
Breakfast was plentiful with a good variety.

our 5 days at ross castle lodge was a lesson in how a b&b should operate. rosaleen and denis were very gracious and helpful with any and every request. their knowledge of kerry county and southern ireland made our time spent most enjoyable.

the accommodations were the best of the 4 places we stayed while on a 2 week trip to scotland and ireland. the room was well appointed, roomy, clean, and peacefully quiet. breakfast consisted of a variety of cereals, breads and fruits, plus one of five full breakfast plates that you order the night before. all were prepared fresh and very good.

though we walked to town 4 or 5 times, it's not a short walk. but it's a beautiful and pleasant walk, through the killarney national park, whose entrance is directly across from the b&b. (you can walk the street into town, but i does not save any time and is not nearly as enjoyable.) but the distance from town helps contribute to the peace and quiet of the b&b. if you prefer, you can easily drive and park in town in 10 minutes or less.

all and all, ross castle lodge proved to be an excellent choice for you ireland vacation.

The owners give you a very warm welcome and will do everything to make you feel comfortable. Rooms are nice and very clean, breakfast is excellent with a lovely view of the garden. The B&B is nicely situated just across the street from the beautiful National Park, and a 25 min walk from Killarney. Tour busses will stop outside for those who don't have a car. If you arrive by train make sure to let the owners know they will pick you up. I would stay there again.
