Description: Major Colgan's is located in the heart of Killarney National Park. With a great sense of history and superb food it is the perfect venue for dining in Killarney. Enjoy a selection of menu options, drinks including craft Irish beers, whiskies and Irish coffee. Enjoy live entertainment with musicians and dancers on selected nights. The pub is named after one of Ireland's unsung heroes, Major PJ Colgan who fought for Ireland's independence and bought The Muckross Hotel (where the pub is located) in the 1940's. He was a popular local figure who had a strong sense of hospitality and welcome for all guests.

What to say. We climbed Mangerton and came in here for a drink and light 'recovery' snack as it sits at the foot of the road leading to the mountain. To be fair the food was ok, safe corporate type food and the guinness fine. Though a bit more expensive than usual But this place titles itself a traditional irish pub and that is not a fair sale. When we were there we were the only guests who were not American, and we are English. There was no Irish people there other than the bar staff. It has no resemblance to any Irish pub I have been in. This place is fine if you want to think you have been in a traditional Irish bar without actually going into one but there are so many better places in Killarney to go to. We won't be going back

Dear Reviewer
Molly Darcy’s which is located in the heart of Killarney National park and next to Muckross Park Hotel does advertise itself as an Traditional Irish Bar because of its all round food option’s, drinks menu’s, live Irish music shows 5 nights a week and Irish Champion Dancer’s. Depending on what day of the week you visit Molly’s will largely dictate what clientele you will find visiting us. Monday to Thursday is predominately tourists and yes we are proud to say most are our “American cousin’s” who love to come watch our hugely popular Free Irish Music nights. The weekends are predominately Irish or local customer’s due to weddings. Molly’s local’s like to frequent a separate section of the bar, as most of the tourists who visit us stay in the main dining section of the bar. With over 4000 visitors a week we don’t always get it right and I am sorry you didn’t feel we delivered on our Traditional Irish Bar experience. But maybe on your next visit to Killarney you may give us a second chance. Go raibh maith agat and sincerely yours Ciaran Kelly, General Manager Molly Darcy’s - Ph 064 6623400 or ckelly@muckrosspark.com

We only popped in for a snack meal but spent an hour or two in this place. Food very good, our waiter (Subra) most attentive and live Irish music with two girl Irish dancers made a great atmosphere.
If you're in the area ... go.

Stop at this place after you leave Muckross House, Torc Waterfall or even drive out from town. We had the smoked salmon and shrimp open face sandwich on guinness bread and a steak and mushroom pie with locally brewed beer and benoffee for dessert. Fantastic recommendations by the wait staff and a great atmosphere. Only complaint is getting the bill paid took a little longer than desired but this is Ireland, nobody's in a rush!

Molly Darcy’s was recommended to us by our host (Meredith? I'm not good with names) at the Forest Haven Farmhouse (fantastic B&B, by the way). As vegetarians we had some difficulties on our round trip in Ireland finding restaurants with vegetarian food - if you don't want to eat vegetarian pasta or pizza or go to an Indian restaurant every other day... So on 2nd September we were very happy to be able to decide between five vegetarian meals at Molly Darcy’s! The salad and strudel were excellent, the sharing platter for dessert was divine and our waiter (Ganesan?) very attentive and friendly. But unfortunately, the portions were quite small (especially the salad), compared to the fish&chips served at the table next to us. That’s why we only give four points.

My husband and I ate here 2 of our 3 nights in Killarney/Muckross. The Seafood Chowder and Fish & Chips were delicious. We also had the Chicken Supreme and the Sirloin...both equally tasty. The star of the show was the Bread & Butter Pudding. It is absolutely to die for!!! We could have eaten 10 of them! Don't be afraid of the Brown Bread ice-cream...it tastes something like cookies and cream.

The wait staff is professional. The service is quick and non-intrusive. The live music was the best we experienced in Ireland. You can tell they spare no expense for quality entertainment.

Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
