The story telling is the thing. The Halloween frights are fun but the gentlemen that put this on really know their folklore and are great story tellers as well. The trip to the Abbey was exciting and the stories brought the place to life. A friend of ours on our trip took a photo which shortly thereafter showed up on his camera which for all the world looked like a ghostly face. Shadows probably... but that picture made the night.

Went on the ghost tour on Halloween night with my husband, daughter and her two pals the girls ages 11 and 12. I was so looking forward to it as I love ghost stories and really wanted to treat the kids to a different type of Halloween as we were on a short holiday break so the didn't go trck or treating. We weren't disappointed. From the time we got onto the bus I knew it was going to be a good tour. The bus was very well decked out to look spooky and the kids loved it. The girls though somewhat freaked out about going to a real haunted place were also very excited. The story's on the bus were brilliant and full of interesting facts of ole Irish history. Then WE GOT TO RHE ABBEY. The girls were rattling at this stage but wanted to go ahead. Again we got a fascinating history lesson about the abbey which I thoroughly enjoyed. The ghost story was freaky. Unfortunately for us with only about 5 minutes to go the girls had has enough and were too scared. This wasn't a problem as we were guided back to the bus with no fuss. Once back on the bus the girls settled and started to enjoy the trip back. No nightmares that night though they did push beds together and leave the lights on. I asked them what the best part of our trip they enjoyed the most and they said THE GHOST TOUR. Only thing I would say is. It's not long enough. I would have likes to have visited some more spooky places and heard more ghost story's and wouldn't mind paying extra for it. Well done lads and thank you for making our Halloween night a very happy memorable one.

Went on this tour the last night and I have to say was really impressed. Walked into the bus and immediately knew we were going to be in for a good night. The decor in the bus is in keeping with the spooky night that is to follow. Both of the men doing the tour are absolutely brilliant. Great story tellers and passionate about what there doing. Walking down paths and trails at night was quite spooky but we felt very secure that these men knew what they were doing and really felt reassured by their confident manner in leading us from place to place.
If you are in killarney I would definitely recommend going on this tour, very reasonably priced and two brilliant tour guides to make the night a truly memorable and spooky one!!

One evening during our stay in Killarney, we walked by a parked up Ghost Tour Bus. I'm not a fan of ghosts to be honest but hubby was keen to see what it's all about! We did a quick google on it whilst using the FREE wi-fi in The Street Cafe on Scotts St near where you can find the Ghost Tour bus (lovely coffee there). We saw there was a tour later in the evening and promptly phoned & booked whilst having coffee and yummy food. The tour was about 2hrs in length and was really really good fun. The lads who run the tour and brilliant, professtional & organised. They get a 100% score for great storytelling. I loved it despite my reservations on ghosts!! Hubby was suitable impressed also. 10/10 lads.

Setting: Old bus with cobwebs, poorly decorated coffin, and curtained windows to mask the filthy, worn out claustrophobic interior. The man next to me had a real life roach crawling on his back midway through the trip! Yuck!

Hosts: Two guys who trade off pouncing on children in a black cape and manning the steering wheel. They spin a few ghost tales about Ross Castle, Muckross Abbey, and banshees en route to these two historic sites. While they claim performing arts training, the results are extremely dry recounts.

Participation: If your idea of a good time is to bumble around in the dark with a group of thirty tourists on uneven dirt trails by a stinking dung receptacle and abbey ruins, you might be amused by the Killarney Ghost Tour. Add some pelting rain, and you can become even more open to nature.

Spend your money much more wisely and listen to some entertaining craic in a Killarney pub for the evening. Or go kayaking or cycling in Killarney National Park by day with a well-informed, amiable guide like Jay Scully.

Dear Reviewer
Obviously your views are completely at odds with others who have taken the time to review the Killarney Ghost Tour. Some of your comments are Im afraid beyond our understanding and begs the question as to why the were included.
The most serious charge that the bus is dirty and has cockroaches is I am glad to say completely untrue. We do not allow food or drink on board the coach and it is cleaned nightly. The bus is also inspected by the Deptartment of The Environment. Thankfully we remember you and the night quite well and can address most of the issues you raise. You state that you saw a cockroach on the back of the man sitting beside you. When you entered the bus which was full on the same night you were sitting in a single seat on the left side of the bus which is shown by your own photo, there are no seats to your right, proving that you could not have seen a cockroach on the back of the man sitting beside you.You are the only person to have ever seen such a thing and if it did happen and was obviously so upsetting why did you not mention it on the night. After the 1st site visit you moved to the very front right hand seat which is a double seat in which a gentleman was sitting waiting for his daughter, you sat beside this gent preventing his teenage daughter from resuming her seat and forcing her to move back the bus to the seat you had been in, much to their obvious discomfort. We then nicely requested you to let the girl return to sit beside her father which we believe may have angered you.
Your review seems to be- little the idea of sharing your environment with 30 other tourists, perhaps getting on a bus tour is then not the best choice for you.
You also make reference to being walking in the rain, yes it does rain in Ireland and to this end we do advise all passengers to dress appropriately with walking shoes and rain gear, although your lovely , sleeve less summer dress and matching high heel shoes looked wonderful, they may not have been the best choice of attire for our trip and the lack of a coat I'm sure did not add to your comfort on what was a cold and extremely showery night.
The sites we visit in the national park are all on flat surfaced roads which are used by thousands of people every day without difficulty. The famous horse drawn carriages of Killarney also use these roads and paths, while dung catchers collect the solids it is unavoidable that the smell of horses does fill the air somewhat, but I note the same paths and smells did not seem to bother you while on your cycling trip which I'm glad to see you did enjoy.
You make reference to and include a photo of one the bins provided for the disposal of the horse dung and somehow link this to our tour, why ?, we walk passed it in the car park at Ross Castle as we make our way to a seating area where we do our story telling some 60 yards away
As regards the story telling of course you are free to give your opinion and I fully except that it may not be to every ones liking and thats fair comment
Although the story tellers do have stage experience no claims of formal stage school training are made and we dont know where you got this from
Returning to the matter of the bus itself. The Bus although 15yrs old is still one of the highest spec and most expensive coaches ever brought into Ireland and was completely refitted with new seats and curtains 3yrs ago, the coach is only used for 3-4months of the year and is in extremely good condition.
Your reference to a coffin is lost on us as we dont have one
The cobwebs are of course artificial and are there to create a dungeon effect and the heavy curtains are not as you suggest to hide dirt but to create a dark environment in keeping with a ghost tour.
We are of course aware that you also had an issue with your ticket when you arrived at the bus.You produced a print out confirming a booking and credit card payment featuring our logo ect, as we explained to you on the night we do not have an online booking and payment facility and we hope that you were able to resolve that issue and sincerely hope that us insisting on payment on the night has not influenced your negative review
