“Energetic and beautiful walk thorugh Torc Mountain”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

Our family of 5 stayed for 3 days in Killarney and loved the area. We are from the US and were on a 10 day trip throughout Ireland and visited Galway, Dublin, Cork, Kinsale and many other towns along the way. We loved Killarney and also the Torc Mountain Walk as it has beautiful views, lovely trails, steep inclines at times (good workout). Plus it is free, which for tourist type things in Ireland is a rarity.

“Nice little break from driving”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

We did this, mostly to catch the waterfall. The nice surprise for us was when we discovered a little way into the edge of Muckross Lake from this walk. A blissful paddle (after having driven down from Dublin earlier that day) :)

“What a view.”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

As a hillwalker this is not a tough walk. We went with our 8 year old son and he made it to the top easily. A nice stroll along the Old Kenmare road and then a climb up railway sleepers to the top with only a bit of soggy ground but what a view. Torc mountain itself is only just over 500m but on a clear day you can see all of Killarney, west along the Reeks beyond Carrauntoohill and as far as Dingle. It really is spectacular. Try and go midweek as it will be quieter - the ease of access does unfortunately mean the top is quite busy. Bring sturdy shoes and a packed lunch and enjoy the freshest of air and the nicest of views.

“Fantastic views for a 2 hour hike”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

About an hour to the top and spectacular 360 degree views. One of the best spots in Killarney! Only complaint is that the trail head was not marked well by the parking lot, but once you walk up old Muckross Road for a while there is signage pointing to the trail up the mountain.

“Waterfalls!”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Easy pull off and pull on to the Ring of Kerry. Short walk to the falls. Next time we will bring our boots so we can do the whole thing!
