Fishing and swimming were delightful and beautiful. Wandering along the shores fun and easy. Take a picnic along.

You have to go to Ross Castle for a boat, it's 10e per person, but you get an hours trip with commentary for all the historic locations on the lake. With covered boats you can make the trip in poorer weather, lots of places to take photo's to record your visit.

Went on the boat tour starting behind Ross Castle. The boat guide was very good. Beautiful views of the lake and National Park.

Picture this, it is late October a cold blustery and showery day the last sort of day one would think of taking a lake cruise. However undaunted by the weather we decided to take the chance and cruise. This decision was a very good one. The vessel was the M,V. Pride of the Lake and is a very comfortable enclosed waterbus. Our skipper kept us informed about the flora and fauna of the lake pointed out things of interest including a white tailed eagle. The cruise takes approximately one hour and this passes so quickly that one wishes it could be longer. You join the boat at Ross Castle which if you wish can be reached from Killarney by jaunting car, something else to add to your experience of Killarney. Our skipper informed us that this was the last cruise of the season and that they would be starting again around St.Patricks Day.

This lake looks different depending on the light and the weather. Small rowing boats appear and disappear. Take your camera!
