“Niall Foley is a superior guide for this unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

Niall Foley is an experienced climber and outdoorsman whose very pleasant demeanor and obvious knowledge and skill contributed to a wonderful achievement for my wife and me. We are not experienced climbers and hence were a good beta for whether older neophytes (late 50s, and fairly fit) can do the climb, and we did, thanks to Niall. Take enough fluids (2 liters per person), a hat, and assume a full day, but worth the time (and suspense) entirely. Once completed, a cold one (or three), some carbs for dinner, a long hot shower, and an excellent night's sleep after (the latter unavoidable after Carrantoohil), and you can file a lifetime's memory away.

“Tough!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Great mountain to climb - a good challenge. Parked in Cronins Yard (excellent ) and on the advice of the lady there we went up the Devils Ladder route. A pleasant 40 minute walk from Cronins is the Devils Ladder. This is by far the toughest part of the climb once you carefully negotiate the rocks and stones it's plain sailing from the top of that. Unfortunately once we reached the summit a mist had come down and the visibilty was poor. It took us 5 hours in total to complete the return journey back to Cronins for a welcome cup of tea!

“Fabulous Walk - Great Achievement”

This was a super achievement to climb Carrantoohill, we did it from Cahir first day and the Devils Ladder the second day. But the frightening thing is the weather can change so drastically in a split second.
